Comments about Motorola MR350R Talkabout® Rechargeable Two-Way Radio (Pair): The range on these is terrible! It says they go to or maybe the disclaimer is up to, but the statement is 35 miles! Honestly they barely go 1/4 - 1/2 miles on a clear day, flat ground, no interferance, just no reason to not work even CLOSE to the distance that it claims! They're pretty decent for using in small areas, or on a campus like I use them. If you're looking for anything with even a little bit of distance to it, don't buy this one.

Comments about Motorola MR350R Talkabout® Rechargeable Two-Way Radio (Pair): Took them out camping for the first time last weekend. They did a good job of keeping the family connected. Drove more than 2 miles away from camp and they still worked fine. 10 times better than my old "walkies". The 35 mile range claim is a joke, the most I got on flat ground was about 3 miles. Also, the batteries died after about 3 hours of continuous use. Overall though, if you just use them for camping, like I do, they work great. Word to the wise...buy the optional car charger! The wall charger takes 14 hours, but the car charger only takes 6-7 hours. Also, a park ranger told me I needed some FCC permit to use channels 1-7 and 15-22, but if you can only use channels 8-14, why does it even have the other ones?

Comments about Motorola MR350R Talkabout® Rechargeable Two-Way Radio (Pair): First off, you have to realize this is not a 70cm HAM set broadcasting at 5+ watts. The 35 mile advertised range is unrealistic even under perfect conditions. At 1.5W Tx power, and hindered by only having a 650mAh battery, the real range is more like 5 miles. That being said, however, I have found the MR350 to be a superb short range 2-way radio. Well worth the[$] sticker price.

Comments about Motorola MR350R Talkabout® Rechargeable Two-Way Radio (Pair): this is the best radio i'v ever had with 11 weather channels, emergency alert channel, 20 call tones, strong led flashlight, and big easy to press buttons, it's very neat. i hope the next radio you buy will be this one

Comments about Motorola MR350R Talkabout® Rechargeable Two-Way Radio (Pair): These radios work but can't get them to go past 1 mile so they were a total waste of money for me. [...] has these $30 cheaper online. Bought mine at a radioshack and paid [$] for them which was way too much. Got a big pack of batteries and paid $20 for that which was double the price of what [...] had to offer. My advice, don't buy from radioshack because they want way too much!!!

Comments about Motorola MR350R Talkabout® Rechargeable Two-Way Radio (Pair): This radio, along side my Cobra 27mi. radio did not perform as well. It had slightly higher volume, but not nearly as clear a sound reproduction. No one can expect the 27 mi. or 35 mi. range advertised to perform that well in a city. You are lucky to get 6 blocks. I just thought I would try it to see if I could get an additional block or two over my 27 mi.Cobras. When I couldn't come nearly as well, I tried to take it back to my local store where I bought it, the next day.[...]

Comments about Motorola MR350R Talkabout® Rechargeable Two-Way Radio (Pair): For all of you who are stating that you are dissapointed in the 35 mile range you need to do a little research first. The 35 miles is max distance. However it is possible to get more than the 2Mile Range when in the woods if you purchase a GSMR licence from the fcc. It costs about $75 for a 5yr contract. But you will get about 17-18 miles on average in the woods. So if it is in your budget is is defanantly worth it and these are great radios

Best Uses Comments about Motorola MR350R Talkabout® Rechargeable Two-Way Radio (Pair): Not a bad radio. The weather radio function is a nice touch. The range in woodland is more like 2 miles than 35. Good enough for keeping a 10 car convoy together, but not for cross county communication. The documentation also doesn't clearly state that some frequency settings will have much greater range than others.
