I have a slight hearing loss in one ear. This balanced the volume and improved my hearing.
I only needed al little amplification and it works fine for that.

It came with four batteries and they are #13A. The salesman said that a #356 was the same not 312.

I bought this for my mother to enable her to hear the t.v. without it blasting me out of the room. She doesn't use it all day or even every day, but the battery life is horrible. It's been a nightmare trying to find replacement batteries. I didn't buy this unit at Radio Shack, but at another retailer. Like other customers, I feel the company should do better at listing just what replacement battery would work because I've spent several days trying to find out. Thanks to the customer who stated what replacement batteries would work.

I recommend they try this if the older person is hard of hearing and are unable to afford hearing aids. It works well to communicated to others (their doctors, family, friends,)in especially quiet environments. It helps the other coversational partner as they don't have to yell potentially straining and injuring their voice just to communicate. The device (as are hearing aids) are more sensative to pick up many sounds so this needs to be taken in consideration. very affordable and better than not having any way to hear. improves quality of life.

Thought this was a good idea for Mom who has a hard time hearing but it turns out to be a worthless item to us! It kept falling off, and the earpiece out of her ear! We tryed everything to rememdy the problem, but nothing worked! Save your money, definately not worth a dime!

Battery Replacement a nightmare.
NO BATTERY # marked on the package OR ON THE BATTERIES, per se. I have driven dealers NUTS! with trying to find the right battery replacements!

Thanks to a reviewer for letting us know that this item uses hearing aid #312 batteries!!!!

This device only amplifies low frequency sounds, which does not help people understand speech. It is worthless as a communication aid.

Just wanted to help everyone out there with this amplifier regarding battery replacements. It took a lot of checking to figure out that this unit uses the hearing aide battery #312. Hope this helps everyone out there. Would have been nice if the company put the number on the unit or battery.
