We live in a valley 15-25 miles from most tv stations. With a good antenna in the attic, we were receiving 2 channels reliably, and another 5 occasionally. Since installing the Winegard pre-amplifier, we are receiving 16 channels reliably.

The Winegard AP-8700 preamp is a fine medium-gain, low-noise preamplifier for TV antenna use that allows the direct connection of separate VHF and UHF antennas to it's inputs. This feature makes it convenient to use it when adding an additional antenna to your antenna system, such as adding a UHF antenna to a VHF only antenna. The AP-8700 has enough gain to be useful in fringe-to-deep-fringe reception areas when used with an adequate antenna, and it has enough gain to compensate for long cable runs and will power multiple TV sets when used with a high-quality coaxial splitter. The AP-8700 can be used in moderate signal areas: 25 miles from the transmitters or more, and will minimize the effects of strong-signal overload when used in the correct manner.

Like all ofher preamplifiers, the AP-8700 is NOT a substitute for a good TV antenna, and is best used with a roof-mounted, high-quality directional antenna that is properly installed and aimed at the transmitters.
