Have had this for past few weeks,battery life is excellent, I have used it for about 4 hours a day and have not changed the batteries yet. The reception on both AM and FM is very good.

I have used this radio for about six months now. Battery life and reception are great. I recommend upgrading your ear buds when possible. I use it for evening walks and while on travel. This is a great buy.

Great AM reception in poor reception areas. I recommend avoid dropping it and allowing it land on the side where the head phones connect while using head phones. The head phone jack get damaged.

It was a Christmas gift - great for getting hourly predicted low temps so we can resurface the neighborhood rink. I also like having the AM-FM radio on my daily commute so I can switch between music and news.

It's handy to use, walk around doing chores or hobbies and keep up with the news. (and not annoy the wife!) Actually the old "OPTIMUS" model was smaller and had clock radio features, which was GREAT for travel, but this is ok for around home.
I hope the yellow color indicates waterproof, I splash a lot in the summer.

I live in the Florida Panhandle where we often experience severe weather and tornadoes. I've had this radio for one year. You can set it to alert you (warble) of such weather in 4, 8, or 16 hour increments whether you are at your desk, in your vehicle, or in the backyard. In this mode, it will warble to alert you whether the radio is on or off, using headphones or external speaker! Seven NOAA radio channels. Great FM reception, good sensitivity in the AM band at night. Easy to use. External speaker is decent, not tinny - helped by base boost option. Sounds "big" listening to music with headphones. Automatic power turn off after 90 minutes is nice. Has "lock" feature to prevent the power from inadvertently turning on. I also have a Sangean shortwave radio so decided to get a Sangean pocket radio. It is well worth the price to have a very good AM/FM/Weather alert radio in one.

I ordered this portable radio to listen to football games while working in the yard or anywhere around the house. The reception is great, the speaker sound quality is excellent, the digital tuning and memory presets are great. I will use this camping as well which was the reson for getting the model with the weather alert mode. [...] Great item at an affordable price.

I own many radios, too many to mention but this one is my daily companion while walking my dog or traveling. Sounds great through the headphones and not too bad through the built in speaker. I do like the option of walking and listening without having to wear headphones. Just a note: It uses the headphone jack for an antenna. It does have a switch to select either speaker or phones, I often plug in the phones (as the antenna) and use the speaker.

I almost gave up buying a pocket or small desk radio until getting the Sangean. I knew radios used to be of high quality, but the last $20-40 models I purchased konked out early on and were battery vampires.

This radio is the first and only excellent small radio I could find in recent years. Saves for the addition price in batteries alone, plus longevity. Apartenly, this is the company who made Optimus for Radio Shack years ago, which were great radios.
