Comments about NETGEAR® N300 Wireless-N Router:

Pehaps it's my Ipad that's the limiting factor on range. When it connects it's reasonably fast. Seems like the range is limited to about 30 ft. to the Ipad within the house. It's the only wireless device I've got. YMMV with a different wireless client. The router has been perfectly stable on the wired side. I updated the router's firmware first thing. Very easy and intuitive firmware update process.

I use this at home and like to relax in bed once in a while but the wireless router n300 will not reach that far. Nothing great about this router and nothing good ether I have to sit at my desk still to be on the computer.

          Comments about NETGEAR® N300 Wireless-N Router:

I first read the reviews for this router on on competitor's website. Those reviews were all good (maybe it was model 1000).

Then I came here, and many of the reviews were bad. But Radio Shack had it in stock at the nearby store, and it was late on a Sunday (they were still open), and they were 2 miles away. So I took a chance, and ran down to buy this router at an Atlanta area store.

I got back home, and this router was an absolute breeze to setup! The instructions were 5 simple pictures (with one sentence each) on one folded booklet page.

I just plugged it in, and connected first with Ethernet. I then opened a Browser window, and the wireless capability was automatically detected, and the network name and password popped up. At that point, I was done! I disconnected the hard wired cable, and connected via wireless. Done!

I tested around the house, and I had 3 bars of connectivity one floor down (around 2 corners), and 5 bars on the floor below that. Good enough for me!

I have no idea why people are complaining. And by the way, I didn't have to mess with their "Genie" App. My install was all simple plug and play.

          Set-up Issues!!

          Best Uses

          • Home network

          Comments about NETGEAR® N300 Wireless-N Router:

I've had this router for a week now and it's working fine. HOWEVER, it was impossible for me (and my husband) to connect and install, because the instructions were so difficult to understand. I finally called a local computer geek who came out and did the job, for a fee, but he said that the instructions were so bad that he didn't even bother loooking at them. He just hooked everything up from his own general knowledge of computers and other devices. I would not recommend this product to anyone who is not a computer expert, like me, because you'll end up paying more for the installation than the router is worth!

              Comments about NETGEAR® N300 Wireless-N Router:

I've installed probably 50 routers in my life. I can diagnose and repair most problems. Today i wasted an hour of my own time then an additional hour on the phone with tech support. My problem was the with the router aquiring an ip address. I told him I already power cycled and ensured the IP address settings were correct. So he walked me through a power cycle. Not a good start. He was obviously just reading prompts and after an hour determined that it was my modem. So to prove a point I plugged in the old router and gained access to the Internet immediately. He said to call my ISP and bridge the modem... So I bridged the modem. Still didn't work... Not spending another minute on it. I read a few reviews that had similar issues. Unfortunately it seems to be luck of the draw with these.
