Make sure that you have the correct end on the SMA connector,Some ham and most of the commercial handhaeld radios use this type of SMA connector, and some use a different gender of SMA connector. I use mine on a commercial Kenwood (TK-270) handheld and it works just fine.

Works fine with a number of Chinese Ham handheld radios that have Male SMA connectors, like the Puxing 777 or Wouxun. However it seems like most other radios, like Icom and others, have a female SMA connector on the radio. To use this cable, you will likely need to get a SMA male-to-male adapter, RS#278-009. Radio shack USED to carry a BNC female to SMA male cable, and it escapes me why I cannot find that more popular cable type on the Radioshack website.

It could be a little longer by about a foot or so but for my application it works out. BNC connects external on a window bracket i made and the radio yes i said radio has the correct end. You have to look at the picture carefully to make sure this will fit your connector.
