Comments about RadioShack® SMA Straight PCB-Mount Jack Receptacle:

I'm using these for RC transmitter modifications. They are pretty much the industry standard connector, sourced from the far East. You will find these on all the FPV receivers and transmitters, regardless of the OEM. If you want to extend the flexibility and capabilites your 2.4 GHz transmitter, these are what you need. Once you have fitted one of these, bringing your 100mw output to the connector, rather than the standard, low-gain excuse most manufacturers provide, you can attach higher gain antennae, and link to other professional level gear.

          It's SMA not RP-SMA

Comments about RadioShack® SMA Straight PCB-Mount Jack Receptacle:

To the people complaining about the center pin...
This is an SMA device; NOT RP-SMA. You were trying to replace a Reverse Polarity SMA with a plain SMA device. If you have no idea what you are talking about then don't review. Go look it up RP-SMA vs. SMA.

Comments about RadioShack® SMA Straight PCB-Mount Jack Receptacle:

As mentioned in another review (which I unfortunately didn't see until after the fact), this connector has no center pin. It claims to be SMA Male, but SMA standards specify the male end as being threaded and having the center pin. The female SMA connection has the screw-end and a center hole. This is threaded but with a center hole. What?? Wasted my money...

I used this product to change out the antennas in my home linksys router due to the fact that the antennas could not be changed out. Unfortunately there was no center prong/connector on this product and therefore couldn't connect to the antenna except for the grounds.

Comments about RadioShack® SMA Straight PCB-Mount Jack Receptacle:

I used this SMA jack to replace the MCX jack on my Powermac G5's WiFi antenna port. I recycled the "old" jack to fabricate a Bluetooth 1/2 wave length, 2.4GHz antenna out of some tiny copper braid and small heat-shrink tubing. This worked out great because the WiFi and Bluetooth MCX jacks used in the G5's are male and female. Great range BTW.
Now I can use standard SMA terminated coax cables/adaptors for my WiFi experiments.
What I really needed was a right angle jack for a direct drop in replacement.
In this case, I just laid it on its side and used a short jumper to the center conductor. The down-side is the possibility of the jack coming loose if it gets hit or pulled too hard by accident.
What can I say, it was a hack to begin with! Improvise, adapt and overcome.
It sure is nice to see Radio Shack still selling "something" that resembles "radio".
