I bought this unit after the tornado came through northern Ky recently, to warn of severe weather while sleeping. Since i've had it, the alarm works fantastic, sounding loudly when a warning is sent. The radio features work great as well. There are NO cons when it comes to this unit.

I have owned three of these units and have not been disapointed yet. Good reception with the included antenna.

I have been warned several times at night about approaching tornados with at least 20 minutes alert time. During recent ice storms the Emergency Management Agency released statements that were issued as local warnings over the radios, sounding the alarm accordingly.

Battery backup is great for the power-outages.

Really, no weather station is available at my home so it is useless. Can't hear weather sirens from town either

This radio does not have the SAME feature which turns the radio on when there is an emergency, but that being said it's a good back up for weather info in the kitchen or bathroom.The weather reception on the 7 weather channels, I would rate a B+ and it is easy to switch from one channel to another. (not the case on many weather radios, where you have to go through a complex menu just to change the volume or channel).The volume control is easy as well.The AM/FM portion is like that of a typical clock radio; not all the great, I would give that a C-.[...]
