Product Summary

Get it right the first time.

This soldering station takes the guesswork out of the temperature equation. You simply enter a desired Fahrenheit or Celsius setting. As the iron heats up, the temperature reading on the LCD display increases so you can easily see when it's ready to use. There are even three presets that enable you to select frequently used temperatures with the push of a button.

  • Makes it easy for you to select the exact temperature you need for your specific application
  • Digital LCD display, interchangeable between Fahrenheit and Celsius
  • Display shows temperature setting and actual temperature
  • Ideal for lead-free solder, rosin-core, lead-based, silver-bearing or any other
  • 3 temperature presets for frequently used temperatures
  • Detachable iron with pencil-style tip
  • Includes cradle stand
  • Temperature range from 302-842° Fahrenheit (150-450° Celsius)

Comments about RadioShack® Digital Soldering Station:

I used mine a lot with really small electronics. It was pretty precise. It got to any spot that I could see anyway. My only problem with this item is the soldering Iron Itself. I read that a 5-Pin Atten will fix this problem though. I have used this iron a lot in the last two years but recently the ceramic part deteriorated. It literally fell apart and exposed the metal coil. I would suggest investing in another Iron, they are around $25 to $30. I got two years out of mine and I loved it. I am in the process of buying an Atten Iron for it.

Comments about RadioShack® Digital Soldering Station:

heats fast, does every thing from bords to automotive. the ceramic heating element can and will brake if you dont watch puting on the tips.
YOU ARE! able to get parts from radioshack although they have to order them for you.
the ceramic heating element was $20 and the full iron, wand whatever you would like to call it is $40 or so.

Parts Are So Hard To Find!

Comments about RadioShack® Digital Soldering Station:

I've had this station for over 2 years. About 6 months ago I noticed that the iron was not heating up at all. I took the pen apart and saw that the ceramic heating element was cracked. I went to my local Radio Shack and asked about replacement parts. I was told that they do not offer parts for their most expensive iron. I did some research on the digital pen part to see if I could find one for sale elsewhere. It turns out the (RadioShack digital soldering station) uses the same pen found on the (Atten Soldering Iron #938). If you type that model in google you can find parts! I was able to get a new pen shipped to me for nineteen dollars including shipping.

Comments about RadioShack® Digital Soldering Station:

The Base station is great with heat control & sensing, but the Soldering iron is worthless. I loved it for 2 weeks then it fell apart (literally!). it is a plastic on plastic screw mount and pulls apart even though it looks fine. (not stripped)so the heating power of the base never transfers to the tip. the store I bought it from doesn't carry it any more and I cant find a replacement for the iron. if I could find a high quality replacement solder iron for it and some more tips I would give it 5 stars. as is don't buy

        • Minor Projects

Comments about RadioShack® Digital Soldering Station:

I use this Iron/Station in my home shop only, but I use it daily. I probably solder/desolder at least an hour EVERY night and in five years I have not had one problem. And for the money? This iron can't be beat. I have owned 2 Weller stations and used them the same way, they didn't last. I use a Hakko FM-202 for work, but nothing can touch that iron (or it's price). If you're thinking of this iron for medium to light home projects, don't hesitate, it's worth it.

        False Temp Reading

          Best Uses

Comments about RadioShack® Digital Soldering Station:

The tip doesn't get even remotely close to what the displace temp is. Turn it all the way up and it will read that the tip is over 800*F but a temp probe proves that its just barely over 300*F. Changed tips several times and had the same end result. The hottest I've been able to get this iron to heat up to is 340*F while the displace was showing well over 800*F. This is a decent iron but it doesn't perform as advertised.
