  • Consists of 1 base unit for the local displays, and 1 remote unit for the remote displays
  • Extends video cables by up to 500 ft. (150m)
  • Pure-hardware design, no software or drivers required
  • Supports VGA, SVGA, and Multisync monitors

Comments about StarTech.com Converge A/V VGA over Cat5 Video Extender:

I tried this unit at 25 ft and it worked as advertised. Tried it at 80 meters and it would not work, and one unit got so hot it may have fried my video card (OK old computer may not have). I could not touch it after a few hours of trying. I got another set and this time the receiving unit got hot. I paired up the two that didn't get hot and tried them on the 10 Meter cable and one started to get hot. [...] The StarTech support people could not help and recommended sending back - they said neither end should overheat OR not work. I will not try another set.
