Comments about Weller® BP860MP Pro Series Battery Powered Soldering Iron:

This iron works well, when it's got good batteries in it. Unfortunately, the included batteries are NOT good, and will give a poor first impression. Don't judge it until you've replaced the included batteries with a fresh set of quality alkalines.

Comments about Weller® BP860MP Pro Series Battery Powered Soldering Iron:

This is a great soldering iron for some one who travels and only has to do a small amount of soldering. I work on Xray units and only have to solder about once a month. It is great for that, I just pull it out of my bag and it is ready to go.

Comments about Weller® BP860MP Pro Series Battery Powered Soldering Iron:

I have a nice 40w iron i've been using for years, and it's never let me down. But I wanted something to use for quick small projects where I just wanted to pick something up, and get it done quickly and easily. (I still use my plug in for bigger projects).

It works great, is easy to use, easy to hold. My only complaint is it feels cheap, but for the light duty projects I use it for it probably won't create any issues.

If you need something heavy duty, get a butane or plug in, but if you want an iron for little things, this isn't bad.

Comments about Weller® BP860MP Pro Series Battery Powered Soldering Iron:

I bought one thinking this would be great for all my off sight work. It heats up nice and fast, and reaches temprature to melt soder in seconds, but unless you are working with thin wires that won't absorb heat quickly, all it will do is form a cold joint. It is now in the box in the garage that contains all the tools that looked useful, but aren't really.

Comments about Weller® BP860MP Pro Series Battery Powered Soldering Iron:

I use this soldering iron in places that are just too dangerous to use a butane one. It does a good job but will go through the AA batteries. I did expect that it would use a lot of batteries though, safety first.

            • No instructions

            Best Uses

            • Very small remote project

Comments about Weller® BP860MP Pro Series Battery Powered Soldering Iron:

The iron came with no instructions. After installing the batteries and turning the slider switch on, I waited 5 - 10 minutes, and the tip was still cool. I tried holding down the button for the light. The tip did heat up quickly, but I found it very difficult to hold down the button while using the iron to solder. When I push the button in, I end up sliding the on/off slider switch back off. I would not recommend this to anyone.
