Comments about Pyramid PR2500/SEA2500 Home Studio Stereo Control Pre-Amp:

Excellent buy, worth every penny. It was out of stock for along time. I wanted it for vocals to use with a reverb and phantum powered mic. I did find it was very powerful and took alitttle time to get the compressor and reverb to work well with the pre-amp. Tone contros is one reason I thought it would be a helpful addition. I have a Yamaha mixer with tone contros, but they are limited contros. So the ones on the pre-amp is one thing I was interested in. The mixer is first in line along with the other stuff. So like I said it took time to blend them all together. At first each thing seemed to be over driving the preamp. The tone contrals are a real asset. I'm not useing the mic input as it is very easy to distort the vocals when useing a powered mic. I'm sure it would work well with a nunpowered mic. Found nothing else with such quality at a low price to compare. It was worth the wait to be back in stock.

I was having trouble connecting an old turntable with a new receiver system. No sound signal to the phono connection? Those sales people don't even know you need a phono amp for the newer stuff! I still love listening to my LP's. [...] This amp was really easy to set up, fairly priced and sounds great...just like the good ol'days.

Comments about Pyramid PR2500/SEA2500 Home Studio Stereo Control Pre-Amp:

I was so impressed by the Radio Shack Graphic Equalizer that I decided to buy this Pre-Amplifier from the Radio Shack Website and WOW, I am SO happy with it!

I am a life long audiophile who is always looking for new equipment to test out with my components, especially ones that aren't outrageously expensive.

This is simply a great Pre-Amplifier that sounds just as good, if not better, than many higher priced components that I've heard. I hooked this up to one of my Rotel Amplifiers and it sounds absolutely beautiful. I really hear a lot of detail in my recordings.

The treble, bass, and midrange controls are nice and can help people with less than perfect enviroments. The loudness option is also nice. The buttons seem well made and put together. The bass seems especially nice on this unit.

A lot of high-end audio dealers seem to say that a pre-amplifier shouldn't have bass and treble controls or anything that alters the source signal but I don't agree with this idea. Most people can't afford to have, "state of the art" enviroments. I think that bass and treble controls can really help in this situation. If you agree that the enviroment makes as much of a difference than anything else, than this idea would further prove my hypothesis.

This unit is fully compatible with a turntable and a tape deck. The low filter option can come in handy with these items.

The ability to hook up a microphone isn't something that I will probably use but I'm sure it can come in handy for DJ's and other professionals.

For the price, I can't really list any disadvantages or, "cons" per se. It might be nice to have a fiber optic input for a CD Player but I think that most people will be very happy with the current options. I am very happy to know that Pyramid and other companies are still producing good products for people who still value two channel stereo.

It should probably be noted that a lot of sound professionals argue that standard analog RCA inputs still sound better than fiber optic ones.

The design of this unit could have been a little more elegant but again: At this price point, I think that this item is an absolute STEAL. I do think it is reasonably attractive and fun to look at. The colored buttons are very attractive.

This Pre-amplifier literally sounds just as good to me as some other pre-amps I've tried around the $1000 price range.

This Unit is very easy to set up. The manual says that it is made here in America, which is another plus!

I am very happy with this unit. I will keep this for many years to come. I will continue to buy audio products from Radio Shack in the future. I just wish they would start carrying more items like this in their stores.

This unit is being used with a Pyle Pro model
TA-600 amplifier and really completes the package.
While the Pyle TA-600 is a great unit,it is a little short on features. This pre-amp has mid-range tone control, balance and several other features that the amp does not have.
The combined amp and pre-amp has really brought my speakers to life. I have went a few years with a lower end amp and almost forgot what quality sound was.
The only thing lacking with this pre-amp was a remote control feature. Not really a must have, but it would have been a nice extra. I would recomend this pre-amp to anyone who wants the extra features that it profides and the outstanding sound quality that they supply.
