I needed on of these for a programing lesson in a book. i was going to order it online but happened to be near a Shack so I looked and found it. Only problem was it wasn't labeled whether it was common cathode or Common anode. The sales child didn't have any clue as to what I was talking about so I decided to try it as convience outweighed price for the moment. Well it happens to be Common Anode which is the opppisite of what I needed so I will be ordering the correct one off another site for half the price anyway.

The part was not found using the company search box, but found using another method. Ideally that should be changed.

This LED has really cool colors,I just like to make circuits on a breadboard with it, I also got the breadboard from you! Whenever I need LEDs I know where to go. The only thing is that the red has to be on a seperate resistor then the blue and green.

Not being an experienced user, it was difficult to know how it should be hooked up. I thought it was dead. It seems irresponsible for RS to not print a guide to the leads on the package. They print a few specs--why not a diagram? I had to come to this page for clues.

The pins were R,a,B,G a little confusing as most use a common cathode, the green and blue were the same length as well. The normal order I've seen is R,c,G,B with the cathode being the longest and blue the shortest. Not big issues but could be a little confusing for some kid starting out wondering why the LED is not working.

I used the Parallax Propeller microcontroller ($7) to test out this LED. I managed to get plenty of colors both light and dark. This LED has some good looking deep blue colors when the blue is in the nearly off state.Mixing all colors to their fullest brightness creates a nice bright White.My code for testing is in this link [@]

This RGB LED is very good and the colors are the same brightness and mix well. The only thing I wish it that the package would have said that this is common anode when common cathode is usually easier to work with.

I wanted to use these as multi-color indicators, but the colors do not mix well at the LED. They are however useful when the LED illuminates a target 3 or more inches away or the light is used with a diffuser to mix the light together. I think the Green LED used in this is brighter and has better color than in some other Multi-color LEDs.
