Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Banana Plug Rated 125V/10A Fits 4mm Standard Socket (2-Pack): I figured out a better way to open this up! Thanks to the others who posted here, or I wouldn't have even known where to begin. Ignore the tabs on the sides! If you touch them you'll probably destroy them. Go in from the top (widest end), and pry the outside away from the inside. I used a snap ring pliers to do both sides simultaneously. Two screwdrivers would work too. Stretch the outside part away from the tabs (so that the tabs don't catch), and pull the inside out. Then you can pull out the metal pin. You can do this in seconds. I opened 4 of these this way.

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Banana Plug Rated 125V/10A Fits 4mm Standard Socket (2-Pack): These plugs are great once you get them apart. As others have mentioned, they should be sold disassembled because taking them apart ruins their appearance and is rather difficult without the right tool and instructions. You basically have to use two small screwdrivers to depress the tabs on either side of the plug simultaneously, then back out the plastic insert little bit. Then use pliers to pull the plastic insert out. Then pull the metal contact rod out (you will feel a slight resistance -- when you pull it out you'll see why). These are very well made for a [$] part. They look nice before you take them apart, and make good contact with both my HP and Fluke DMM's, though the plastic tip on the end makes for a slightly shallow fit -- they will pop out if you tug on the cable with light-to-moderate force.

Comments about RadioShack Banana Plug Rated 125V/10A Fits 4mm Standard Socket (2-Pack): This kind of safety banana jack is the one you typically find on most multi-meters. Use with Caution because the banana jack is only rated to 125volts and most multi-meters will test to 600 VDC or 500VAC. Test lead wire unless specifically purchased for such use may not be rated for the higher voltage either. Purchase Test Leads for your equipment as replacement sets, don't build your own it's not worth your safety of life.

Comments about RadioShack Banana Plug Rated 125V/10A Fits 4mm Standard Socket (2-Pack): These stackable banana plugs are a great product, it just took me a while to figure out how to dis-assemble them for soldering and re-assembly. Some simple instructions would have been very helpful. These plugs should come dis-assembled that would make installing them much quicker and easier. The nice thing about them is that once they are soldered and assembled they work really well and stay much straighter than other stackable plugs when stacked. They also are fully insulated to prevent accidental shorts which is nice. Keep in mind these safety plugs will only plug into a matching safety banana jack with clearance for the shroud that's over the banana plug. This kind of safety banana jack is the one you typically find on most multimeters.

Comments about RadioShack Banana Plug Rated 125V/10A Fits 4mm Standard Socket (2-Pack): I found an in-line banana plug in my local RS, part number 274-0730, that is more suited to my little power-supply adapter project. Note that the tip on 274-0730 spins around and has to be tightly griped with the fingers to unscrew the cover for soldering lead on.
