Comments about RadioShack Snap Choke Core: I replaced a pair of Altec Lansing computer speakers with these really nice Sony speakers with a built-in subwoofer, that I found at a thrift store. They sound ten times better than my old speakers but the only problem is that they're nearly 20 years old and they're not shielded, so I always got static interference from my USB wifi stick, it sounded awful. A quick Google search told me that these ferrite cores were what I needed, so I bought some and installed them, no more static! :) Now I can listen to music in great quality without the static.

Comments about RadioShack Snap Choke Core: I use APRS in my car and was having problems with the TNC resetting due to RF overload. Put one of these on the audio lines and the antenna coax and solved the problem.

Comments about RadioShack Snap Choke Core: Works well on power cords between transformers and devices. I recomend this item on any power cord that it can fit on.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Snap Choke Core: USB cables are sensitive to RFI and the use of these devices at each end of the cable reduces spurious signals considerably.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Snap Choke Core: Had real annoying static on a new cordless phone. Heard about these ferrite cores and how they might be the cure. Through a process of elimination (unplugging likely sources of emi/rfi) and discovered it was a heating pad. It produced the interfernce even when switched off! I put one of these snap choke cores on the power cord near the plug and voila, no more static.

Comments about RadioShack Snap Choke Core: Does a good job cleaning up low level RF/EMI. Suitable for low powered environments like high-end computer playback systems. Overall effect is more effective if used in input and output circuit wiring, especially power supplies and speaker inputs. More is better, but the overall effect is still subtle. Spend some time with placement. Your jaw will not hit the ground, but what do you expect for [$]?
Comments about RadioShack Snap Choke Core: These chokes work just fine for the purpose for which they are meant. If you're getting RF interference that is coming in via a wire or cable, these chokes will help cut it down or eliminate it. If the interference is coming from somewhere else, you can't expect these chokes to eliminate it. And if you have a multi-thousand-watt commercial broadcast station located just down the street, you can't expect an inexpensive ferrite choke to eliminate interference from a source like that! Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Snap Choke Core: Buzzing noise was reduced significantly due to T-Mobile Blackberry on desk with Boston Acoustic desktop speakers. Used 4 (2 packages) of 3.5mm on each speaker and one 17/64" on A/C line into computer - Apple G4 Laptop.

Comments about RadioShack Snap Choke Core: Twist the three wires that come from a motion sensor on security lights and then clip the unit over the wires. This stops false turn on of security lights. This is especially effective if lights are on the same circuit. The units create EMI while operating and this stops the units from interferring with each other.

Comments about RadioShack Snap Choke Core: used these on control wiring between a ductless split air conditioner and the wall mounted air handler that was getting interference from a neighbors HAM radio (it kept shutting down). I kept my fingers crossed and so far so good!
