Comments about Tracfone ZTE Valet No-Contract Phone:

Let me explain the problems: phone answers with finger sliding from one circle to another. I could not get it to slide to the correct circle before it went to voice mail. The number of rings can not be changed to give you more time to actually get the finger slide in the correct place. There are several more frustrating features which I can't even begin to list. Definitely not worth the money.

Comments about Tracfone ZTE Valet No-Contract Phone:

I bought this as an upgrade. It took them three days to transfer the old number, service days, and minutes from my old phone. After one month, my new phone is still not listed in my online account. So, I had to add service days, minutes, text, and data the old fashioned way. I still cannot add service days, minutes, text, and data to my new phone via the phone itself or via my online account page. The weak signal makes it virtually impossible to do anything except make local calls and I live in the city less than one mile from a transmission tower. I paid twice the price for this phone. I should have shopped around. After the service days expire on this phone, I am finished with it and with this company.

Comments about Tracfone ZTE Valet No-Contract Phone:

I bought one of these for my sister. She was used to using an iPhone. It works great for calls and does text well enough. After her experience with it, I decided to get one for myself because where I work my TracPhone LG800 wouldn't get a signal so I would have to leave the building to make calls. This phone with the 3G works well enough in the building.

One of the most useful features on this phone is the widget that allows you to turn off or on the WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, Data, Sync and Brightness adjustment. That's very handy.

It does not have a macro lens. If you want to do bar codes you can use the phone with a magnifier lens. I was able to scan a prescription bottle barcode with a drugstore's app to get a prescription refilled by taking the scan through a 3x magnifier.

I have a seven inch tablet that I'm not using as much since I got this phone. I read the digital newspaper on this phone now.

I really like it and I'm happy I found one at Radio Shack because they set it up for me transferring my number and minutes and air time from my LG800. That is a great thing about getting a new phone at Radio Shack.

I LOVE this phone EXCEPT that I cannot find a compass app that works with it! BUMMER! I use a cell phone most infrequently but wanted one from tracfone that would allow use of apps. This one mostly satisfies that requirement.

Comments about Tracfone ZTE Valet No-Contract Phone:

All in all, the ZTE665C is a very good phone for the cost.

I was concerned about some comments in other reviews that the phone has problems. I can happily say that I have had none of the posted problems with my ZTE665.

Yes, there is no compass and there are some other feature limitations.

Battery life: Use the widget to turn off services that you are not using to save battery life. With limited wi-fi, Bluetooth and GPS usage, my battery life is around 3 days.

WiFi: Yes, the ZTE665 does not have a great wi-fi receiver. You may need to be closer to the wi-fi access point to get a signal. However, I don't see the random dropouts that other reviews have claimed.

Plan: The new triple minutes plan is working well for me. If you make 100's of text messages a month, the basic Tracfone service may not be the best option for you.

The only complaint I have about the TracFone app is that you must manually click on the refresh button to update the minutes.

Service: I have been able to verify that TracFone smart-phones do not roam. You can only get service from the contracted provider towers. So far, this has not been an issue for me.

Screen and Touchpad: You just cannot compare a 3.5" phone with the more expensive 4" and 5" phones. The screen and touchpad on the ZTE are more than adequate for what I need. Some users will prefer a stylus over using their fingers for typing on the keyboard.

One final note: If you have never used an Android or Windows 8 device, there will be a learning curve. Android is pretty intuitive to use though.

Comments about Tracfone ZTE Valet No-Contract Phone:

You can use the WiFi and save money on your data plan. The Data (3G) can be turned off and still use WiFi.
The camera is poor and does not focus well. This is a known problem from other users on the internet. The quality is poor enough that it won't recognize barcodes or QR codes. The pictures have poor quality as well.
