This radio is a peice of junk.Do not buy it or any of Cobra radios.I have had this radio for l year and have send it back twice and they did not fix it and they refues to.

I LIKE THE DUALBAND AND POWER CHANGING SECTION AS i HAVE A GMRSLicense and will usethe GMRS band a lot when at PARKS,CAMPGROUDS,MALL areas.the maine band when out fishing or just boating.radio so easey to use and set up and the weather band SAME side is great no mater what your doing.It is just a GREAT ALLROUND RADIO THATS ALL I CAN SAY

Great radio,GMRS side is great for getting in contact with others in your group.High power gives long range communications and low power good for close range, Marine band keeps you contact with other boater on th water and the weeather band sure comes in handy to keep up on the weather conditions that come up on these spring days whle out fishing

I used this radio most of all on land, thanks to its dual band VHF/GMRS. I can take this unit for camping or urban use. I have no problems with it so far, I have other radios, but this one tops them all.

I have a number of GMRS & MARINE RADIO'S but this being a dual band GMRS & MARINE radio makes it the best of the two. plus having Weather radio with same is a great help while out on the waters small lakes or the great lakes. I am very pleased I got this radio and will use it much more then trying to carry a GMRS & MARINE AND WEATHER RADIO with me carring fishing gear along with a radio is plenty

I HAVE A NUMBER OF GMRS & MARINE RADIOS BUT THIS ONE IS THE BEST HAVING BOTH IN ONE RADIO AND WEATHER RADIO WITH SAME IN IT. ILL USE THIS RADIO FAR MORE THEN THE OTHERS JUST DUE TO TWO BANDS IN ONE AND SO EASY TO SWHICH FROM ONE BAND TOANOTHER.

This is a MARINE BAND RADIO, it's primary use is for EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS. If you want a "scramble" capable radio, check out the various FRS radios available at multiple sites.

There is absolutely NO USE for a scramble feature on a radio that is designed for EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS, lest you hit that button at the very time you send out "SOS".

Maybe you should inform yourself on the LEGAL uses of the VARIOUS radios availble to the public, get a licence if necessary, and stay within your BAND LIMITS.

This radio is not private.
It can be heard using a typical handheld scanner.
This radio needs to have a scrambling mode built into it.

This is an awesome radio, i recently purchased the MR HH425. This is the best radio for the money bar none....having 3 different bands is soo coolll!!!!! only thing i wish they had?.....Cobra u listening?.....This would make it totally unbeatable!!!! Add CB...thats right citizen radio...then have the ability to plug or screw in external ant. plus mic jack like u have then u would be the King of radios u could go mobile,base,handheld id buy three or four plus buy for my freinds!!!!

I bought this radio to use for hunting and as a back up on my boat I was expecting to get less that what I received. The majority of all of the radios I have bought in my life have been Icoms which I have found to be of excellent quality. But after receiving this one, this Cobra doesn't get left behind buy much. I'm sure the electronics in Icoms are a little better but I'm sure both should last the same amount of time. Reception is excellent and I've managed to talk to friends over 6 miles away clearly in the woods using either the GRMS or VHF frequencies. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to buy another Cobra product based on this units quality and feel.
