Comments about Rayovac BR2335 3V/165mAh High-Energy Lithium Battery:

This is the only battery that will fit a Ford keyless entry pad that is mounted on the driver's side door. If your keypad was installed at the factory, it is hardwired to your electrical system. If it was installed at the dealer, it is attached with a strong adhesive and has an internal battery that will last at least 5 years. Mine was installed 8 years ago. Over the last year, the keypad light has gone dim and the doors unlock, relock and unlock again to indicate that the battery is dying. Replacing the battery involves carefully removing the cover using a flat tip screwdriver in a slot on the right side then cutting around the rubber membrane with a sharp razor. Use masking tape and an old rag or T-shirt to protect your paint. Remove the old battery and replace with new battery being careful to observe polarity. During reassembly, you may need to use a small piece of tape to hold the membrane in place when replacing the cover. The cost of the battery versus $150+ to buy a new one from a Ford dealer was a "no-brainer". Remember to use tape and a soft cloth around the pad to protect the paint. Also, use the biggest flat tip screwdriver that will fit in the slot.
