Comments about Sher-Wood Sherwood RX-4105 AM/FM Stereo A/V Receiver: This is used in a commercial shop with 4 speakers (2 bose & 2 leftovers from a job), sounds fine, I think some of the other comments are by those trying to use this [$] stereo and expect audiophile results, not going to happen, but it is about the cheapest priced, simple stereo out there, and works suitably for a shop stereo or maybe for outside pool or other type secondary stereos, where you do not want all the bells and whistles. If you want a good amp buy Sunfire, but you'll pay more than [$].

Comments about Sher-Wood Sherwood RX-4105 AM/FM Stereo A/V Receiver: As for what it is it is basic. AND THATS IT. If you dont know how to wire speakers in the correct impedance than yes it WILL over heat. Its not a ballzy reciever but its for small basics. Not all recievers are built for bass, some are actually still built for SOUND QUALITY. If your looking for a reciever for an inexpensive price for a small office of just to play music around a small apartment than this is what you need.

Comments about Sher-Wood Sherwood RX-4105 AM/FM Stereo A/V Receiver: Back in the day Sherwood was known as a good name brand. Not anymore, I can get a better deal on a used one at a local swap meet. I had this sitting in the box for about 10 months untill I finished remodeling my garage so I can set up my sound system. What a piece of junk, no power, sad bass awful set up and shuts off when I turn it up to 50. I have to turn it up just to get a nice sound but I cant...:( junk junk junk.... Pros

Comments about Sher-Wood Sherwood RX-4105 AM/FM Stereo A/V Receiver: Power supply got fried after only two years of relatively infrequent use. My 20 year old Sherwood lasted longer than this receiver. Pros

Comments about Sher-Wood Sherwood RX-4105 AM/FM Stereo A/V Receiver: I cant understand how people are burning out these receivers (and 4109s) in such a short length of time. I have a 4105 in my dental office powering 2 sets of 20 year old Radio Shack Optimus 4 inch bookshelf speakers. The receiver runs a minimum of 5 hours a day, 4 days a week, 50 weeks a year. The volume is kept low to medium. I have had the Sherwood for almost 6 years and have had no issues with it. BTW, at least once a week a patient will ask where I bought the speakers. I tell them at RADIO SHACK, but regretably, they are no longer made. The Sherwood is a bargain, but the Optimus speakers are unbelievable for what I paid for them. Please RS start making these speakers again! Comments about Sher-Wood Sherwood RX-4105 AM/FM Stereo A/V Receiver: Too much money for this unit. Poor bass. I returned it to the store.
