Comments about PylePro PP999 Phono Preamplifier: Great pre-amp for the money. Easy to hookup. I use it on a old turntable to hook to a computer to turn vinyl into digital files.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about PylePro PP999 Phono Preamplifier: Specs could have been clearer. I wanted to use it for a pre-amp for a hearing aid system but the impedances didn't match so the sound was severely distorted.

Comments about PylePro PP999 Phono Preamplifier: I bought this to remedy a power differential problem between my Technics turntable and my Harman/Kardon receiver, both manufactured in the early 1980s and both in mint condition. The problem was that the turntable was not outputting enough power to the receiver. Obviously, the problem is that I need a pre-amplifier to boost the signal from the turntable. So I got the PylePro as a small, easy to install, "fix". Well, it doesn't work. It's very easy to install -- a monkey could be trained to do it. But it simply doesn't do it's job. The signal boost was hardly noticeable. Plus, it actually CREATED a substantial degree of distortion in the signal it was trying (but failing) to boost sufficiently. To return this I have to get pre-authorization from Radio Shack's online return center, or some such nonsense. I can't just take it to a RS store and get my money back. So that's [$] down the drain. By the way, I acquired a Dynaco tube pre-amplifier, and my system is now generating some of the most amazing hi-fi sound I"ve ever encountered. YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Pros

Comments about PylePro PP999 Phono Preamplifier: Had some LP's that I wanted to convert to digital only problem was that the old receiver that I was going to hook the turntable up to did not have line outs. So I got the Pyle Pro pre amp and ran the turntable straight into my PC via it. Worked great! Pros

Comments about PylePro PP999 Phono Preamplifier: My latest Home Theater receiver came without a phono input. I finally decided to listen to my old vinyl records and discovered this omission. A quick web search located the Pyle Pro at Radio Shack. A few days later, I was up and running my turntable through the CD input with the Pyle Pro phono preamp. Works great.
