one of the best i have owned. actual metal cabinet, sturdy front end, and an excellent auto noise limiter. out of the box, i talked easily 45 miles, on nothing more than the stock 4.5 watts peak output,and a tuned wire antenna. once its peaked,it will be an absolute base station killer.

I drove tractortrailers in the city. Other people drove the same truck i did. They ran 24 hours a day. So other people had their own radios. The PRO 510xl was perfect plug in the speaker/antenna/power/ground and i was ready for the day. at the end of the day it went rite in my lunch box.Used a power mike on low, great antenna was able to talk half way across city. PERFECT!!

I coupled this radio with a 48" whip antenna and it works fairly well for an inexpesive unit.

This is the 2nd radio I've ever owned. Compared to the older Cobra I had earlier, its a good radio for a cheaper radio. I can talk to other guys for a couple miles and hear them loud and clear. Only problem with this radio is I needed to upgrade to the 4 footer antennas instead of the 3 footers. Other than that its a great radio for a great price.

Only reason I bought this radio was because it was compact and could easily fit into my car. But that was it. Can't hook up a noise cancelling microphone because something about the different frequencies and after market microphones. Tried it and truckers told me it sounded worse. Ran a Lil Wil (Little Wilson) antenna. Got about 3 miles 1.7 on a SWR meter. Did okay with Wilson 5000 trucker antenna. Got about 5 miles on it. The big down fall to this radio is that is does not have a gain knob or dynamic knob. The 520XL has the gain knob. Truckers told me that my voice sounded impaired and that this was a junk radio. Peak and tuning the radio didn't really help. Only had this radio for about 5 months then threw it out. Bottom line if you want a compact radio then you need to find one with a gain knob and squelch knob. I would try the Uniden 520XL or Cobra DX IV model.
