Comments about CyberPower CP800AVR 800VA/450W Uninterruptible Power Supply:

We have a MAC for personal use and a PC for business use. Both had a UPS to protect against power loss, which worked as expected, meaning it provided battery backup to allow for a smooth shutdown of the computers. However, we live in an area with frequent power outages and have a generator, which provides power to the entire house. The UPS units, however, could not accept the generator's electricity, as it was not "clean". After doing research, I learned I needed a UPS with AVR (automatic voltage regulation). [...] I installed it, disconnected the power from the electric company and switched over to my generator. The UPS didn't even seem to notice. Since the price difference for UPS units without AVR and with AVR is almost the same, I believe all units should have this feature.

20 minutes of power for my quadcore sys.

        • Short power outages

Comments about CyberPower CP800AVR 800VA/450W Uninterruptible Power Supply:

As the title suggests, it gives me about 20 minutes of power (without my monitor plugged into the backup, I know it won't fare well with it on there as it is a CRT).

Q9450 (quadcore for those who don't know Intel's processor names).
        4 GB of RAM
Several HDDs (these drain power too).
ATI Crossfire 2x ATI Radeon HD 3650 512 MB RAM video cards, currently running in single card mode though both are installed.

Idle usage is about 112 Watts according to the software tool it came with. These stats are so others can figure out if this will work for them or if they want a higher end model (or lower end).

I hope to see if this one catches the very short intermittent power fluctuations my area has. My older one did not but I don't know if that was a systems flaw or some other issue (near the end of its life the circuit breaker was resetting randomly, I'm guessing the battery was also about to go). So far nothing has happened since I've had this one.

Comments about CyberPower CP800AVR 800VA/450W Uninterruptible Power Supply:

Livin in the sticks with unreliable power, this unit really does the trick for us. With over 30 min run time and the auto shutdown option I dont have to worry about the kids shuting down the computer during an outage.
Only fault I can find is that the alarm is too quiet, my old one would beep loudly and wake me during an outage. alerting me to tend to the heat/ other concerns during no power to the house.

Comments about CyberPower CP800AVR 800VA/450W Uninterruptible Power Supply:

The length of time advertised that it will continue to run your equipment (up to 85 minutes) is overstated. I have my PC and 5 peripherals (two printers, monitor, modem & wireless router) on it and it calculates the PC run time to be 16 minutes after power loss. Be that as it may, it's good to have the safety associated with it.
