Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Desktop Weather Radio with Alarm Clock and SAME Operation: I purchased this product a few years ago to alert for tornadoes, severe storms, hurricanes in Florida. It worked fine for short period of time. Then nothing..no alerts, no channels receiving NOAA broadcasts. I reset a few times without success. I returned the product to Radio Shack to have them reset..worked a few days, and then nothing. I've changed plugs and locations many times. Does not work consistently and properly, and I find it's not reliable at all. I will have to purchase another model. Surprised to see Radio Shack still selling this unreliable weather radio! I agree with the other comments regarding the inconsistency of this product. I would not recommend this radio to anyone. I'm very disgusted since it wasn't cheap.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Desktop Weather Radio with Alarm Clock and SAME Operation: This radio is a waste of money. I returned one that did not work as it should. This is my second one. It does not receive signals and continually displays check op. I have moved it everywhere in my home and nothing helps. I will Never buy another Radio Shack weather radio. They may have given me a second one - but very reluctantly. I will throw this one in the trash and see if I can find one that does the job that it was intended to do.

Comments about RadioShack Desktop Weather Radio with Alarm Clock and SAME Operation: I paid [$] for this in March 2008. It worked great the first year and a half. Then suddenly one day it quit receiving the NOAA weekly tests. Even worse it quit alerting us of severe weather. I have tried resetting the radio and adding a bigger antenna, moved the radio to different areas of the house, etc. but none of them have worked; I still get the "check op" display. I even contacted the local NOAA to ensure they were still sending out alerts; they were. Doing a research, I am not the only one who has experienced this flaw. There is clearly a defect inside the radio that causes it to quit receiving alerts. Furthermore Radioshack still continues to market and sell this radio for more than it's worth.

Comments about RadioShack Desktop Weather Radio with Alarm Clock and SAME Operation: It worked for four months, and then I got the "Check Op" message on the radio. I was not happy, and decided to throw it away when I could not fix it. I have a Midland HH54VP2 and WR-300 and they both work great. The HH54VP2 has been working for over a year. I don't understand why this one just does not work... It alerted us a few times, and ran off of battery power for seven hours one time, but after that, I have had no luck with this radio. And here in the high plains of Texas, these units are a necessity.

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Desktop Weather Radio with Alarm Clock and SAME Operation: The alarm on this thing has never worked. I am tech savey and yes I have tried all different settings. If you just want to listen to the weather forcast it works fine. But don't count on it to wake you up at night.

Comments about RadioShack Desktop Weather Radio with Alarm Clock and SAME Operation: Look, I'm honestly suprised that people are having problems with this radio. It's so simple to program that even my 89 year old grandmother can program it. Some people are just not smart enough to own technology and instead of bashing a perfectly good product they should just accept it. I would trust my life, my families life, and my neighbors life on this product. I love that I can turn on the weekly and monthly alerts, the national alerts, and the administration alerts which is something that can't be done with the Midlands. People that are having problems with reception simply need to check to see if they are in a good area for reception from a transmitter here [@] and see if they are within an area with good reception. If not they need to contact their weather office whos number is located in their telephone book under "government services" or call [@] or use an external antenna using this http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103580 and a tv antenna.

Comments about RadioShack Desktop Weather Radio with Alarm Clock and SAME Operation: I don't understand any other problems others have had about this device. I've had it for 2-3 years and it has alerted me about everything coming my way. The antenna has fallen off, but easily repaired with super glue. If you're looking for a great weather radio which will always work, you're looking for this one.
