This is a great phone for seniors and DIYers. I use it as a backup when the power goes out and my wireless phones are out of commission. Also, I use it to troubleshoot phone problems to determine how far the signal goes (to junction box at house, to specific phone plug, etc.). Sound quality is excellent. People should apply the right tool to the job and not try to make square pegs fit in round holes. Great phone if used as intended.

very bad phone. broke within 2 weeks and had static on long distance calls. i will stick to my 70's western electric 2500. that thing hasent broken yet.

Nice phone, but the instructions came only in Spanish. Does Radio Shack really think that all Americans must read and speak Spanish?

Have no static on phone this was to replace, when this one was plugged the static started. Plugged in the old phone static gone. Sound booster only makes the static louder.

Phone volume is incredibly low; setting the volume to max yields normal volume. Boost button causes giant screeching sound that does not stop. Boost with volume at lowest setting yields normal volume. Not worth [$] for a normal phone. Ring indicator does work; it lights up perfectly fine. No Boost indicator. Boost button location is also problematic; seniors will inadvertently turn boost on/off from picking up phone.

I do not know what phone others are reviewing, but this model does not have a caller ID feature. The sound quality is excellent and the volume control works well. It was purchased for a senior with some hearing loss, and she can hear beautifully without using the boost button. We have two of these phones, and they are both great. Lack of features is a plus for seniors, where simple is usually best.

I purchased phone for identfying callers and catching calls while in basement laundry room. Caller ID feature did not last long. Then I moved phone to my den for use of a corded phone in an otherwise cordless phone home (in case of power outages). Then I discovered I can't use the phone to dial out. So much for emergency situations! This is a piece of junk taking up space.

I purchased this phone for the caller ID feature which doesn't work. The LED was difficult to see from the beginning, and completely died within a few months - now it can't be seen at all. Being that it died slowly, Radio Shack won't let me return it.

No light indicator to show when boost was on (as stated there was). High pitched noise often. Returning tomorrow. Afraid to by from Radio Shack, because all their amplified phones seem to be by Clarity.
