I have been VERY satisfied with this product, to the point where I am about to purchase another one! Had it for 3+ years. I, too, am an interpreter and use it to send the speaker's words directly to my mixer and headphones in the booth at the back of the room. Sometimes there's interruption in the signal, but that usually is solved by moving the antenna or changing the batteries in the mic during a break. I HAVE used other options, and more expensive microphones, and good ol' Radio Shack always comes to the rescue! The only reason I am purchasing a new one is because I need one with a different frequency. (The sound system at the venue where I will be interpreting has the same frequency as my mike, so there's interference) I am so glad there's three frequencies to choose from!

I have used this product for two years. I am now on my third one because the microphone fails after a few months. If it weren't for that, this would be fantastic.

Our school purchased 1 and it broke within one month. Got another two within 4 months and all broke. Do not buy this item. The last one they would not give us our money back or replace it.

I used it on a daily basis, and in a matter of weeks, it was broken. The brief warranty doesn't help either. I got my first as a gift, and it broke...so I bought another one, thinking it was just that. I was even stupid enough to buy a third, and it broke too. Don't buy this product. It's cheap for a reason.

I bought this unit about 2 years ago and never used it. I have a gig coming up and I need a lapel mic so I decided to hook it up prior to and give it a try. It worked for about 30 secs and then quit. Brand new batteries were in the unit. Unfortunately I've had it to long to exchange it.

The salesclerk never told us that this unit needs to be plugged into an amp or other audio device on order for it to work! We set it up and kept wondering where the sound was supposed to come out. The answer was, it *didn't*, because it needed to be plugged into another piece of equipment which we didn't have. So it was completely useless to us when we needed it.

I bought this microphone to replace an older model RS wireless that had bitten the dust after never working very well.
I use it to mount on the speaker's lectern at events that I interpret into Spanish or Portuguese. The signal is picked up in my booth at the back of the hall and fed into my headphones. This avoids the problem of long wire runs and/or connection to a house sound system, which can be problematical. I have used it several times with great success--sound is quite clear and noise-free(if not hi-fi quality for recording) and range is good. The last time I used it a couple of months ago in a Manhattan highrise, it kept cutting out, even when I placed the receiver only some 10 feet from the mike. I don't know if this was caused by some local intermittent RF interference or the beginning of equipment failure. Tests since then have been good. Because I am doing a job next week where the mike just HAS TO WORK, I have bought a more expensive semi-pro model (Azden). I'll take along the 32-1257 as back-up and, who knows, it may outdo the Azden, but I feel much more secure with two options.
From reading some of the other comments, I would conclude that this unit suffers from poor build quality and inspection, where many customers can't make it work. For me the quality is amazing for the price.
