This wall plate set-up is also useful for 9.1 home theater system installs. The two height channels used in a 9.1 installtion as well as the four surround speakers used in a 7.1 or 9.1 installation would be run through this wall plate. The front three speakers would in all likelyhood not need to be hidden. And as a previous review mentioned, a powered subwoofer uses an RCA or XLR conection anyway. This wall plate allows you to set up a cleaner more decorator friendly system.

Why does it say 5.1 use. If you think about it this is really a 7.1 set-up. I use it like this. The top 2 are for Front Left+Right. the middle 2 are for Rear Left+Right. the bottom 2 are for back surround Left+Right. So now ll you have left is the center. well it this plate is going to be located by your stereo then the center speakers are going to be close by so you don't need this plate for them. The sub woofer can not hook up to this plate cau subs need RCA cords.

This made my Home Theater install look nice and neat. Before i had a bunch of speaker wire just coming out the wall.

Need stickers to mark the speaker wires. Other than that, a great product at a reasonable price.

The picture of this item indicates that each pair of posts are labeled for the speaker location, which would be great if it were true. When I went to the store to pick this up, none of them had labels. Same price, same part #, but no labels. :(
