Comments about RadioShack® ColdHeat® Soldering Tool:

This product has great design features. It fits your hand like a glove. Allows for rotation of wrists and parts/wires. The best tinning tool I have ever used. Engenireed to meet todays tightly crammed electronic cases and p.c. boards. does not leave a mess like other tools I have used. the power source is simple. (4 AA alk. batt's) comes with aa foam lined carry case. I imagine it can survive a few drops off a 6' ladder. Where was this tool 30 years ago?

Comments about RadioShack® ColdHeat® Soldering Tool:

I tried to use it on some car electronics as well as some audio electronics. While it does make a good flashlight, I found that it doesn't melt solder very well. Smaller wires tend to get stuck in the tip because of the way you have to hold it. it takes a good 10 to 15 seconds for both sides of the solder to melt. It's a novel idea, but the application isn't so great. Maybe I'm just using it wrong?

Comments about RadioShack® ColdHeat® Soldering Tool:

I was given this as a present quite a long time ago. I used to be an electronic repairman so had a few soldering irons always handy LOL. I was in a bit of a hurry one day but I looked at the coldheat iron dug it out loaded in some new batteries. I was not impressed at the time so I threw it off into a corner and forgot about it. Well I had chance to use it since my son borrowed my iron and had not returned it yet, you know the old story… I think I did that to my dad on many an occasion. Anyway say the coldheat tool I dug it out again put in some new batteries. This time not in any hurry I took a few seconds to look it over closer. Well I'll be if it didn't work fantastic and I was working in very tight quarters and fine wires with little room for error. I went for it it was faster than my regular irons since it didn't need to be plugged in and have to wait for it to heat up. No cords in the way either yet another plus. I wish I had taken the time long ago but I use it regularly now over my other irons. It will never replace my other irons completely as there are jobs just a bit big sometimes but for fine to medium soldering I like it a lot.
