I bought two Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300 metal detectors in summer of 2006 for my son and I and they've been really nice machines. We found a bucket of newer clad coins and several silver dimes, nickels, and quarters. We have found jewelry in means of rings, earrings, a thick silver necklace and two gold necklaces. One earring was on the beach 14 inches deep in the sand. I told my son while digging he was digging for nothing and he didn't give up and found an earring. I was absolutely shocked the metal detector's pin pointer went that deep but it did. In the last year I've bought a $2000 metal detector and I really can't say I'm finding much more with it as I find with my Bounty Hunter. This Detector is very trustworthy. I have bought a few different coils which are available. Different coils help in hunting different types of ground. The smaller coils work great in high trash areas. Larger ones go deeper. I didn't get a new coil for three years because the coil that comes with this detector works fantastic. I only found out at the time that Bounty Hunter had new coils to try so I got one. The price you can't beat. This detector is very easy to use and I'd say it's very easy for a child to use. I've got my 9 year old niece hunting with me these days. The detector's pin pointing is very accurate and I like it better than my $2000 metal detector. Overall you can't go wrong with this Bounty Hunter. It gets a full five star rating from me and I'm sure you will agree with me that it's one of the best detectors on the market. Good luck and happy hunting.

I own a 2200 and a 3300. The pinpointing is great.
Others make these detectors seem as kids toys. I disagree. I have found many coins and jewelry with even the 2200.
I would highly recommend it for the beginner and more advanced detectorist.

While I did not get my Discovery 3300 through Radio Shack, I was fortunate enough to get one barely used second hand. After 15 years since my last metal detecting venture and a lot of research, I could not be happier with this detector! Extremely accurate on depth and ID especially when you get to know its "personality"; all detectors require a learning curve but this one doesn't take rocket science. With practice and use, you'll sort out junk from treasure by using the responses from the detector without wasting time cracking the soil on oxidized trash and scrap metal. In just two weeks of use, I've found over $400 in gold, silver, and coins with this gem! Each hunt gets more exciting as I seem to learn something new about the features which aids in successful recovery. As with any detector, you're going to need a lot of patience or this hobby is not for you.

This tool has been used for finding treasure, coins, Gold. I also used this to find my land survey markers. That was great because settle a dispute with my neighbor. They thought the property line was deep into my land. Saved thousands of dollars not having to go to court.

I bought two 3300's a year ago. One for my son and one for myself. We have had so much good luck with finding treasures. I own two homes from the early 1900's and have found old coins from as far back as the mid 1800's from my one home and it seem to just get better everyday. This 3300 is so good at pinpointing I'm just shocked how good it really is for the cost. Trust me when I say you can't go wrong with this device. BUY IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT!!!

Great detector for the money. It is very lite and the pinpoint feature is very accurate. Have found tons of coins and civil war artifacts with it. If your just getting into the hobby this is the detector for you!

Hey great price and perfect handling. Just in our own property I found on my first day testing it out, a 10K gold wedding ring. Hey it just started me off and finding that other treasures.

Out of the box this detector began locating and accurately. In many circumstances it worked better than my other detector for 1/3 the cost. The only downside is the volume is softer and the battery door is going to be prone to breakage.

This detector did not detect a set of keys on the ground, containing several different metals. I studied the manual extensively before use. I bought new batteries when I bought the detector, but after two minutes of use, it said replace batteties.

I purchased this unit after previously purchasing the Discovery 1100 as a starter detector. I wanted the features and readout displays this unit offers. I find it easy to use and accurate. Has very good depth. I have found many great finds with this unit. Highly Recommended!
