Seedy Fixerman Review is right on

Comments about RadioShack 22-Range Pocket Digital Multimeter:

Speedy Fixerman's review was right on target. This was my second purchase of this multitester. This one also went bad on me after two years of use. I like the meter because it's small and compact and fits into my tool bag very easily. I use it every day for all sorts of testing but the leads break off with frequent use. I've been successful in re-soldering the leads, but now it's giving me faulty readings (it's not the batteries) which I can't aford to take a chance on. I'll buy another one to take its place but I can only expect to get two years out of these meters, at best.

Comments about RadioShack 22-Range Pocket Digital Multimeter:

I have had many of these meters since they were first introduced. They usually last about 2 years for what I use them for. The leads break where they come out of the case from flexing. Other than that
they are pretty durable and very easy to use. Volts and ohms are auto ranging, even discerns between ac and dc and which polarity on dc. Pretty foolproof but has internal fuse if overloaded. Fits nicely in my toolbag.

Comments about RadioShack 22-Range Pocket Digital Multimeter:

Have used the device as necessary around the house for the last 7 years. Rugged and always reliable. Just installed my second set of batteries to use it for continuity tester on solenoid for furnace humidfier water switch. Worked great and like the audible tone on the continuity tester. Would recommend this for the casual user.

Comments about RadioShack 22-Range Pocket Digital Multimeter:

I read some of the other reviews on this device and was surprised. I've had much better luck with it.

I bought one of these back in the 90's and it worked great for a few years, then I lost it. I bought a second because I liked the first one so much. I keep mine in a tool box and it gets hit with screwdrivers and other stuff when in the box. Never had a problem with the first one or with this one. Ended up buying a third which I gave to my dad as a present.
I use mine about once a month for some kind of reason, with the auto-off feature I'm only on my second set of batteries. Continuity checker is working fine, as is the voltmeter and ohm meter.

              Great device.

Comments about RadioShack 22-Range Pocket Digital Multimeter:

I have had my DMM literally for years with no problem at all. Would have preferred that it use AA or AAA batteries but have only had to replace them once. I am formally trained in electronics, a hobbyist and also use it for work around the house. Handy, compact, and was a good value for me.

Comments about RadioShack 22-Range Pocket Digital Multimeter:

This is actually my second. The unit is small enough that I carry it every day in my back pocket. This subjects it to quite a bit of abuse, like sitting on it. After 3 years of constant use it died of two conditions, 1) sometimes the batteries did not make contact, 2) the positive lead developed intermittent contact.

Comments about RadioShack 22-Range Pocket Digital Multimeter:

I was out a multimeter and happened to be at a Radioshack. I asked the sales rep. which multimeter he would recommend, it was this one. I took it home and used it for about a week, then all of the sudden my power supplies, and batteries were reading in the mV range, they were all well over the 1V range a few minutes before. I flipped the setting around a bit and tried it again, same thing. A 9VDC read as having 8mV, and the continuity test now reads short when it's open, constantly. I didn't do anything to warrant it [*] out on me, especially after a week and only using low voltage DC. Also worth noting, the mAmp meter setting never worked.
