I have had my DMM literally for years with no problem at all. Would have preferred that it use AA or AAA batteries but have only had to replace them once. I am formally trained in electronics, a hobbyist and also use it for work around the house. Handy, compact, and was a good value for me.

This is actually my second. The unit is small enough that I carry it every day in my back pocket. This subjects it to quite a bit of abuse, like sitting on it. After 3 years of constant use it died of two conditions, 1) sometimes the batteries did not make contact, 2) the positive lead developed intermittent contact.

I have had the product for almost a year and no problems with the unit.I use it every day in my buisness and I am rough with it.Nothing has broken or has worn out.Replaced the batteries just once.But I shut it off when I am done with it.The wires go back in the top cover,once you figure out the right way there is no problem getting them back in.I have read alot of neg response to this product but I have not had any of the issue I have read.

I was out a multimeter and happened to be at a Radioshack. I asked the sales rep. which multimeter he would recommend, it was this one. I took it home and used it for about a week, then all of the sudden my power supplies, and batteries were reading in the mV range, they were all well over the 1V range a few minutes before. I flipped the setting around a bit and tried it again, same thing. A 9VDC read as having 8mV, and the continuity test now reads short when it's open, constantly. I didn't do anything to warrant it [*] out on me, especially after a week and only using low voltage DC. Also worth noting, the mAmp meter setting never worked.

The continuity feature died after 1 day and now just says buzzes all the time. DO Not recommend this unit.

Great idea, but bad engineering. I've foolishly bought 3 because they are so convenient, but all 3 broke within a few hours of use because the continuity meter on each shorted on themselves (i.e., gave a continual "short" buzz - so useless now). I opened one up with no luck, took the 2nd back to Radio Shack (also no luck in fixing it), and the 3rd, well, not worth the trip. Won't be buying one again. Too bad...it's a nice idea.

This multimeter replaces one I bought back in the 80's at about the same price. The other gave me many years of service. Compact, accurate and easy to use. This one has even more features.

I like the feel of the case.
