Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Phone Plug (2-Pack):

Previous posters have noted difficulties when soldering wire(s) to the connector(s) on this plug. If one prepares the connectors by using flux, the solder will adhere with no problem. I used a 35-watt soldering pencil and experienced no difficulties whatsoever. This connector is used to connect a speaker to my amateur radio transceiver.

Won't take solder, plastic insides melt

Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Phone Plug (2-Pack):

I like the metal casing and knurled housing, but the solder terminals won't take solder properly, like the surface is too slick. If I heated too much the plastic separators begin to melt, and if you continue to do this, the connection to the tip is lost. But excess heat seems to be the only way to get solder to stick to the terminals, and I have an adjustable solder workstation. I'm afraid to push 800 degrees. I'm already at 750, and 650, nothing sticks. What gives? Why not use hard paper separators like other connectors that can take the heat??[...]

          Quality control issues

Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Phone Plug (2-Pack):

Someone in quality control was asleep when this batch went through. It's a little disconcerting when the center prong doesn't make electrical connection with the solder tab, and one has to build their own solder bridge.
