Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Stereo In-Line Audio Jack:

Soldering connections renders product useless. As previously reviewed, product fit was fine before soldering connections, but plastic/wax insert deforms when connections are soldered. Plug then will not firmly fit into socket, rendering the fitting ineffective. Waste of time and money.

Does the job, but this plastic version is very cheaply constructed compared to the metal version THAT THEY DISCONTINUED!!! Who's moronic idea was that? Just ANOTHER great product that Radio Shack discontinued! Typical!

Spring/contacts weaken when soldered. Pretty tight connection before soldering (test fitting), but became weak/loose when I was done. Second time around I encountered the same issue.

Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Stereo In-Line Audio Jack:

So I wanted to make a simple 3/32" to 1/8" Adapter for headsets. After a bit of messing around I decided to buy this.

There is no wiring diagram: HUGE ISSUE for the novice user.
It's not hard to fix, however, if you bust out that DMM lying around and check continuity (when you plug in some sort of 1/8 male plug. I used an output m-to-m from my ipod).

THEN, if you know anything about TRS connectors it's a rather simple hookup to your project. I could see potential issues if you are trying to have a specific setup (left/right audio channels), but there's always a work around.

In my case I only wanted mono output, but I had stereo inputs(didn't know which channel output). So it was a simple matter of tying the left/right together and knowing which was common.

Great quality of manufacture, and it looks ALOT better than anything I could have created.

P.S.- The attached picture should alleviate many users issues.
