Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug: I had an old pair of Labtec Elite-820 computer headphones in which my jack was shorting out. I did some reasearch; I initually cut my rubber juck open to so that my solder was lose. I went to radioshack & purchased this High Quality Jack. The employees where unfortunately unaware of this jack and their stock of carring such a product so if you go to a store and they are nieve to this product; it is located in the drawers where the fuses, resistors, & toggle swithces are located! I was excited to know that this product had the "Coil Strain Relief" (decreases physical pressure @ wire connection) which other reviews didn't indicate that it was present. I don't recommend soldering the wire to the screws for a better connection if that the case get the screwless version; kinda defeats the solderless option. But b4 doing any especially any screwing make sure you PUT WIRE THRU THE COIL STRAIN RELIEF, THE METEL COVERING/CASEING, & THE PLASTIC SLEEVE so you wont have to take everything apart. The copper wire is the ground attach to longest lead, the Red will be the 2nd longest lead & the Green will be the shortest lead. Once screwing the wires down I decided to put electrical tape around the ground lead where the prongs meet because when I screwed the metal caseing down to complete the repair I found out the leads touched which causes a short! So once all wires are screwd down, pull the plastic sleeve, coil, & metal case down to screw it into place. There you have it, your headphone should be woring like new. If its still shorting out something may be touching like lose wires! Hope this review helps!

Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug: Headphone wires are very thin and should be tinned and soldered. that provides proper connection and no stray strands. This product is rugged and may work with soldering to screws. As it is - it is worthless.

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug: My boyfriend's headphones weren't working right so he went to RS several times and was sold several adapters that didn't work. I took the headphones in and the guy said the tip was broke that is why they weren't working right. He sold me this adapter. I went home, read these posts and in 15 minutes I had them working! Thanks all that posted instructions!

Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug: The wires on the headphone will drive you to drink when trying to strip. Buy a wire stripper from RS or be prepared for a surgical splice that must be done. The screws on the replacement plug are awesome and easy to wrap the wires around. MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE METAL COVER ON FIRST AND THEN THE PLASTIC COVER BEFORE ATTACHING WIRE OR YOU WILL BE CURSING YOURSELF OUT WHEN YOU HAVE TO UNDO EVERTHING. THE PLASTIC COVER IS A MUST OR IT WILL SHORT OUT. DONT USE THE SPRING COVER AS IT WILL NOT GO AROUND THE WIRES. OTHERWISE, THIS THING IS AWESOME!!!!!

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug: I was crushed when my beloved pair of Audio-Technica ATH-A500's stopped working due to a broken plug. Over the years it just came loose, as they so often do. Anywho, I picked up this solder-less plug and within 5 minutes they were back in action, without any noticeable difference in quality. Absolutely recommended!
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug: My Aerial7 Chopper 2's are about 2 years old now. Unfortunately, the audio plug ripped off of them yesterday and I was left with perfectly fine headphones that were totally useless.

Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug: I have a set of sennheiser HD555 Audiophile headphones that had a 1/4 Plug, with an adapter to 1/8. The adapter cut out a lot and so I bought one of these plugs to put onto the cable since I rarely used it with a 1/4 plug. I usually use it with my iPod and it works great for personal listening at home. Fantastic sound quality, I am very impressed. The plug is made of many different little pieces instead of having the ground terminal made of the same piece as the threaded barrel mount, so I can foresee this loosening up and breaking in the future, but as of now, they are holding up very well and I am completely satisfied. Besides, when it does finally break, it's only [$]. I will defiantly be replacing it again and again over the years with this same product. The only downside is there size. Compared to other 1/8 plugs, its pretty bulky. I guess thats the price you have to pay for a completely rebuildable plug. Its a bit wider than my iPod nano 5th gen, but its alright, not a real problem. Overall, I'm happy with it. Thank you RS for another great product.

Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug: Easy as pie, connected the left and right out and ground lead's from my factory Xterra head unit to this nifty little thing and voila, instant AUX input for less than 3 bucks. I LOVE RADIO SHACK!!!
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug: Tried countless time to get this to work. Had some success putting the wire through the hole then screwing in the screw. But eventually one tab broke off. Sometimes I could get one speaker to work - jiggling would get intermittent success but it would not maintain connection upon assembly.
Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack 1/8" Mini Stereo Phone Plug: this saved me from figuring out how to solder and buying the hardware, took some time to know how to get it to work perfectlysmall screw for Left audio (blue/green?), medium screw for right audio (usually red), tallest is the ground (copper wire). Although not perfect, had to pull the wire a little to get the audio to feed through correctly, after which I taped it up from moving.great product for temporary solution, instructions would help greatly[$]
