Comments about RadioShack Satellite In-Line Amplifier:

Tried to use it on one of my boxes that is having a small signal issue. The box is only losing about 4 db below viewing the signal. This did boost some of the transponder signals but completely killed others. So I lost the ability to view half of the channels. Decided just to bite the bullet and replace the box.

Comments about RadioShack Satellite In-Line Amplifier:

Used this between the dish and a long coax run to the receiver/sat box. I believe it gets its power from the receiver/sat box so..30 seconds to hook it up and bingo, problem solved. [$]...I used to sell LNA's for tens of thousands of dollars....back in the day.

Comments about RadioShack Satellite In-Line Amplifier:

I have a long run between my 322 dish network receiver and the dot 2 1000 dish. I am running rg 11 cable which helps of course but my signal level is lower than I would like. The more signal the less issue with storms. I am getting on average about 70 percent on the dish receiver signal meter. With the amp inline I showed a 4 point loss. I doubt the unit is bad but I suspect it is just incompatible with dish for some reason. Perhaps it is saturated and can't offer any further gain than the amount of signal I'm getting. any amp will saturate at some point. In such case I blame dish for not having a properly calibrated s meter on the receivers. I checked a relatives and her's is only showing about 80 on a very short run of rg 6. Max on the meter is 125. I know my dish is on target. I actually had an installer recheck it after I set it up. I am on the money. It's too bad my locals are on the 110 or I would just set up an eastern arc dish.

Comments about RadioShack Satellite In-Line Amplifier:

I am using this amplifire at work with KU/L-Band 2.4m dish receive side (LNB)with 250feet+ cable (low loss) connect to multiple modems. I was able to get around 18dBm gain as advertised on this amplifire. With this amplifire, my FDMA and TDMA modems were able to join the network. It fixed my issue

This is for SATELLITE DISHES - not off air reception. Make sure you buy the correct part for your application.

                    Saw a 15+ dB improvement over 200' of RG-59.

                    Good 'bandaid' cheap.

Comments about RadioShack Satellite In-Line Amplifier:

The bad reviews here are from people who bought the wrong thing for their application. I just bought another handful of these because they work so well!
These guys that post here about the signal being worse after they install this are using it to amplify signals that are not in the range of the amplifier! Of course the signal gets worse if you put a roadblock in the coax that doesn't pass the frequencies you are trying to tune!

This is a C-Band satellite amplifier than runs off the LNB voltage on the coax. Could not be easier to use. Sicne indoor TV antennas for off-air reception are neither in the satellite band, nor do they have voltage on the coax, I don't know why anyone would try to use this unit for that.

If you need a C-Band Satellite amplifier, this is it! If you need an off-air DTV antenna amp, go buy one - but stop trying to use this one, as it is for satellite!

                      RTFM!
