This is the best splitter ever. There is no fuzz in the sound at all, and in the end I found that this splitter even improves the loudness of the bass! (Or it possibly softens the treble) It just has the perfect touch.
I think this would be best for home audio systems and behind the computer and stuff like that, but it would be too bulky for travel. For traveling, a connector version without the wire in-between would be a lot better.

I use this to provide two 1/8" stereo jacks from my laptop's original one. I purchased my first Y-adapter from RadioShack over 5 years ago and it continues to function perfectly to this day. (The same can't be said of a comparable, but overpriced, Monster Cable splitter than I purchased from RadioShack a little less than two years ago.)

The build quality of this Y-adapter is excellent. The cables, while not of any great length, are made of a high-quality, durable rubber. The substantial encasement of the connectors (on both the male and female ends) are made of a firm plastic and coated with the same rubber material as the cables. This combination provides a solid encapsulation of both the male and female ends, while allowing the stress reliefs to flex just enough, but still not allow disconnection of the internal wiring (that would lead to a "short" in inferior products). On at least the female ends of this Y-adapter, the components have held up to well over a thousand plugs & unplugs, while still maintaining perfect connectivity and seating the male plug with a satisfying (and secure feeling) "click".

Although I won't claim to be an audiophile, I do appreciate products that don't add any extra noise to interfere with my listening pleasure. This Y-adapter fits the bill and, unlike the already mentioned inferior Monster Cable splitter, there is no static or loss of a channel during any adjustment made to an inserted plug. (Not sure what I mean? Try inserting a speaker's 1/8" jack into any audio source, and then rotating that inserted jack. Chances are you've heard the effect(s) to which I'm referring.) I don't know if this is as a result of it being "Gold-Plated" or the overall fantastic build quality, but it sure is great.

The insides of the female plugs appear to be threaded and, although I've never tried it due to lack of threaded male plugs, the threads look like they could allow a male adapter to be securely attached.

That's a pretty long review for such a small and inexpensive product, I know. But I really appreciate it when the little things are done right. And this is Y-adapter is one "little thing" done right.

This was 'supposed' to be longer than what the online catalog said. It also said that it was stereo when this one was mono, like RadioShack, OVER PRICED and OVER RATED!

I have bought several of these for my computer customers. Great for headsets and computer speakers. Turn off the speakers and use headset while talking on the internet to friends. Don't have to reach around computer to switch speaker wire with headset on older computers that don't have front headset option.
