Works great if you use the proper crimping tool. Way faster and easier than a solder connector.
Don't even try to use them if you don't have the crimping tool.

The db9 connector and pins work fine. As far as a crimper, they sell the correct db9 crimper for $8.99 it has red grip handles. You have to use b slot and it crimps fine. Also in order to take out a pin all you need is D-extractor and something to push the pin out with. Remember u dont have to crank down too hard on the pin, because thats not what holds it in place.

Sorry all of you (or most) have trouble with these. What the problem is that you don't have the proper crimp tool. If you did the pins would fit correctly. You cannot just mash them with pliers etc. because it flattens the terminal or you damage the lug that locks it into the housing. If built correctly they are fine. And yes, you cannot use wire over 20 AWG.

I bought this to make a one time use cable but it didn't even make it that far. The crimp ends do not allow it to always slide inside of the connector and the connectors are not always able to establish a connection with the make end.

Radio Shack part 276-1428
This same part is sold as both male and female in separately labeled bags.
It is not possible to use as female and the male setup is loose.
Recommend to avoid this part and get the soldered versions instead. 276-1538.
Does not include the tall nuts and/or bolts for the outer connectors.

second one and i still cant figure it out, no instructions, pins dont fit in holes, just very bad product

I tried the "solder" version of the 9pin connector and it was very difficult to solder onto the pins.

So I went and got the crimp version. If you use 18awg is will be too big or 22awg and it will be too small. If the wire comes lose, there is no way to remove the pin and try again. You have to throw the whole thing out. I ended up soldering my wire to the crimp in order to make it hold.

The product is good and all, but will only work with 20awg non-stranded wire.
