Contrary to what one reviewer had said, this product *is* compatible with mono plugs and jacks.

This is true as long as you run mono end-to-end. That is, do not mix mono and stereo connectors with this product.

So, stereo or mono, this works great, and prevents broken plugs/sockets when jammed into a tight corner or tight space.

This is a great product. I was looking for a compact right-angle adapter that didn't have a cord between the ends. A random perk is that when it's plugged into the side of my laptop if I move too much the adapter acts as a break-away instead of breaking the headphones or laptop port.

This connector is an excellent way to reduce wear on the built-in 1/8" audio jack on your media player or other device. Replace this cheap adapter when it wears out, instead of your expensive device.

The right angle connection saves space. Prevents "tail wagging the dog" syndrome you can otherwise get when connecting a long, heavy cable to a small device.

If your audio device uses the headphones as an FM antenna, it will still work through this adapter.

The location of some mini phone jacks makes your device vulnerable to snaps, breaks, and catching on nearby equipment. This takes care of all of those problems and more. I use it on a laptop computer and it works great!
