Comments about RadioShack 120VAC 3"" Fan:

I have three of them. I keep one for replacement when the others start to vibrate and chatter. I take them apart and lube the brass bearing with very light oil and they last about 3 months. I have two fans working all the time,(1- intake - 1- exhaust) as the AVR gets extreamly hot. They do the job very well but they are too loud and just dont last.
I am currently looking for a different solution.

    Missing information

    By Stuck in Joisey

    from New Jersey

Comments about RadioShack 120VAC 3"" Fan:

I am shopping for a 120 volt AC fan in the 50 to 75 cfm range.

Of all the fans I have reviewed on this website, most are missing either their voltage requirements, how many CFM the fan produces, or both pieces of information.

It is stated in the fan reviews that English is supported. I assume this is in the rare instance when you may want to hold a conversation with your fan.

What happened to the old Radio Shack? Remember the one that actually stocked items, put out a catalog each year and the stores were run by people who knew their products.

Comments about RadioShack 120VAC 3"" Fan:

This fan definitely exceeded my expectations! I usually install/use Papst fans (BEST in the world) for similar projects (Home Theater component cooling/venting). A while back, I was in a bind and needed a replacement AC fan ASAP! This fan fit the bill. YES, it was a bit "noisier" than the Papst fans I typically use but it was also 1/3 the cost.To make it "quieter", you can simply add a series resistor (10W or higher) to reduce the voltage. These fans are rated for 115V anyhow and most home's produce between 117-123V, so a series resistor should be used regardless. Connecting 120+ volts (typical household outlet) to a component rated for 115 volts, WILL inevitably lead to premature failure! That's just common sense. BTW, "the fan" is STILL running smoothly (2 yrs later). It runs 24 hrs/day, 365 days/year! Not bad for[...] bucks!

Comments about RadioShack 120VAC 3"" Fan:

custom installed this fan into my battery charger I use at work, as the charger would get hot and thermal shut-down. minor modification to the fan casing and simple wiring has it installed. this fan moves a good ammount of air, but is kinda thick, so make sure you have room for it first. if you need 110 volt air cooling, here ya go! slightly larger than an 80mm case fan. fyi.

Comments about RadioShack 120VAC 3"" Fan:

This fan is aweful. First of all it is so loud it sounds like a Jet engine flying around the room. Secondly it didnt last 5 months. The fan refuses to turn on now, you have to start it with your hand and give it a "bump start", which even then, it wont always continue to run. This fan is worthless. I have replaced it with a Scythe fan and couldnt be happier. [...]

Comments about RadioShack 120VAC 3"" Fan:

We purchased 6 fans and installed them in 6 cabinet to vent warm air from a computer workstation also in each of these cabinets. 4 of these fans have failed and/or vibrate loudly and stop running intermittently. Radio shack will not replace or refund these as they are a bit out of the warranty period. They are all only a bit over 1 year old and are undependable.
