Comments about RadioShack 12V CT 450mA Standard Chassis-Mount Transformer with Leads:

Feeding a full bridge rectifier to a L7812CV 3 terminal regulator. There's still plenty of headroom for a small micro to do temperature/current, etc. features. The physical size is also nice, it looks like it might just fit in a project box.

                • Light with RS 4 pin leds

Comments about RadioShack 12V CT 450mA Standard Chassis-Mount Transformer with Leads:

I wanted to make a linear power supply to light up leds. I was going for white light, or as close to white as I could get, using Radio Shack 4 pin red and green leds and the rectagular blue led. I used RS 25 amp, 50 volt bridge rectifier and 4 of the 4700 microfarad, 35 volt electrolytic capacitors in parallel. From the bridge rectifier, solder wires to the outer ends of the leads. Watch your polarity! Then solder wires to the inside on the first capacitor and solder the other ends to the outside of the second capacitor, and repeat sequence as neccessary. My meter measured 19.2 volts measuring across the last capacitor. If you try to build the same light, I am sure you could come up with a much more efficient use of volts, but I bought all of the parts on a whim during a store visit and was not sure of the actual voltage the transformer was going to start me out at. The (2) red leds, I decided to run at 35 milliamps. So I used 2 1k, 1 watt resistors in parallel(twisted together). The (4)green and the (1)blue each had 1 1k and 2 10k, all 1/2 watt resistors in parallel. As for a switch, the lighted rocker with a blue neon light caught my attention. Since it is usually dark when you are trying to find a light switch, I thought the little neon light served a useful purpose.

Comments about RadioShack 12V CT 450mA Standard Chassis-Mount Transformer with Leads:

Needed a replacement for a power transformer in a record player that took a power hit and blew. This fit perfectly and was a snap to install. Wiring was easily identified (especially since it was all described on the packaging).
All wires had been stripped and were ready to go right out of the package. I did have to cut and tape the 6V tap which I did not need.
All in all, a good product at a good price.

Comments about RadioShack 12V CT 450mA Standard Chassis-Mount Transformer with Leads:

I needed a transformer for a speaker protection circuit that I was building. To save space, I wanted to have the transformer in the same enclosure as the circuit. RadioShack's 273-1365 was the perfect item for this project.

Potential buyers should be aware that this is a center-tapped transformer. The total output voltage printed on the package is combined across two outputs. However, it is no problem to use these outputs together (with one each going to your project, ignoring the third differently colored wire) to get the total voltage of the transformer to your project.

This transformer's build quality is very good, with a sturdy frame and outer shell. The connections are clearly labeled. Even when I accidentally short-circuited the output, this transformer remained undamaged. I'd give this transformer five stars and recommend it highly!

Comments about RadioShack 12V CT 450mA Standard Chassis-Mount Transformer with Leads:

The Transformer works great to replace a blown transformer in a radio or clock, possibly other equipment and projects. It provides power as specified, it is well labeled. The Ratings are even stamped on the transformer and packaging (at least on the one I got). I only wished that Radioshack sold the smaller transformer (300mA) with a center tap as this one did not fit the mounts, I removed a bit of plastic so that it would fit and hot glued it into place.
