Comments about RadioShack Wireless IR Remote Control Extender:

It takes about ten minutes for the extender to let me use my remote to use it. It will not respond to any signal before that time.

It is so unpredictible and frustrating to use.

      Freezes up, swithces stations. Junky

Comments about RadioShack Wireless IR Remote Control Extender:

I can't figure out why it always takes about 10 minutes after I turn on my TV before the unit starts working. After about 10 minutes it works great but it is a pain having to wait 10 minutes for it to warm up before I can change channels.

Started out working great but after 6 months it started to flake out. Tried to exchange it but gotta love Radio Shacks 30 day return policy.

Comments about RadioShack Wireless IR Remote Control Extender:

I purchased this because I have TWO overhead projectors mounted on a ceiling for auditorium use and needed to power them on without having to go walk in front of them and use a ladder in order for the IR beam to reach the projectors.

The initial kit (with both the xmitter and the receiver) had a 2nd jack on the back of the receiver so that you could place it in a ceiling and then run a wire from it out to a smaller IR device (smaller than a golf ball) to project your IR signal at the front of the projector. It was small, inconspicuous, and had double sticky tape on it to mount it on the ceiling in front of the projector.

This receiver, which is supposed to function the same as the initial one, DOES NOT have the 2nd jack output on the back of it, thereby requiring you to mount the receiver itself on the ceiling upside down in front of the projector, without any provision to do this, such as double-sticky tape.

What a waste of engineering dollars and materials!!! Both receivers should have been identical!!! In fact, the initial receiver should have been mass-produced and sold separately as a 2nd, or 3rd, or ... receiver (as needed) for sytems with multiple projectors!!!

Somebody's brain was definitely in the wrong place!!!

Comments about RadioShack Wireless IR Remote Control Extender:

The system works great. However, I bought with the intent to purchase the IR Extender Assy. It is not available in stores. When I had the store order it, it came with the plug to big for the device. [...] Getting this assy is just way to hard. I guess I will have to adapt without it.

This product gave me hope that there was an inexpensive alternative to the pricier options offered by the likes of Niles ($270+ for their system). Alas, this is the hope that disappoints.

Product was easy to hook up and seemed to work at first. Soon, however, we experienced lagging response and all-out freeze ups. Now we're back to opening the cabinet doors and exposing the components until daddy can rub enough pennies together to afford something that really works.

Will relegate this device to a task it performs well enough that it can feel self-actualized. Now what might that be???

Comments about RadioShack Wireless IR Remote Control Extender:

The extender is prone to RF interference. Mine was picking up so much interference from outside sources that it kept sending erroneous IR signals to the cluster of sat boxes and VCRs and TVs, that swamped out the real signals. Had to replace with a home-made 5.8 GHz device (using scrounged parts).

Its antenna length suggests it to be using 413MHz for the RF link, not sure, can't find the usually good Radio Shack source info. Spec Analyzer couldn't find the burst.

Newer, similar devices have gone to higher, and some uwave frequencies. They exhibit a big improvement, but a bit more costly, coming down in price.
