Great connector for projects

Comments about RadioShack® 2-Position Female Interlocking Connector:

These are great all around connectors. I have used them for years with 12V devices and made them a standard for interconnection.

Take the radio out of the car and put it in the house on a power supply. These connectors make it easy.

They are inexpensive and at 20A handle most hobby radio equipment. Need to plug in ham, gmrs, cb, scaner and some other accesories, no problem, just make a splitter or a distribution box. These connectors will not break the bank. (Just keep in mind the total current used so you don't blow a fuse)

I usually cut off the mounting "wings". They are good to have if you need to mount them in an enclosure. But when clipped and used with heat shrink tubing, make neat in-line connections.

Not sure if these are open standard but you can always find them in a local Radio Shack. Just make sure to get the matching 20A male and female connectors. (274-151, 274-154)

Years ago, they were made of better quality plastic but these do well too.

      Good connector...

Comments about RadioShack® 2-Position Female Interlocking Connector:

Pros: the package stated this was rated for 20 amps

Cons: The matching male connector could use some improvments...

This is a great little connector for high-current applications. I'm using it with a 20A blade fuse to make a quick disconnect for my power inverter.

There are plastic clips to mount this easily on a panel, as well as a locking tab to secure it in place. I feel like the locking tab should be on this (female) plug instead of the male one, but otherwise it's good.

If you need to have a quick-disconnect for high-draw devices, this is ideal. Just think about which connector goes where before you wire it up, and trim off the extra un-needed locking tabs for your application.

Comments about RadioShack® 2-Position Female Interlocking Connector:

Nice connector but it's not immediately obvious how to prevent the pins from pulling all the way through the connector when disconnecting. (I destroyed two trying to solve it.) The solution is to wrap the molding tab all the way around the connector pin.
