These are nice jacks. For the price you can't go wrong. I soldered these jacks easily. The plastic did get a little soft, but it did not melt or move. I used these to make a 1/4 extension cable, and they worked perfectly.

I had the exact same problem as the other reviewer, and I do consider myself a decent soldering iron user.

Solder tabs set in plastic was a horrible idea. If you only soldered one tab at a time, and allowed cool down in between, you may have better results. I tried to do one after the other, and after the second the plastic was extremely soft, and the contacts had lost their original (and necessary) placements.

I don't want to be fast on the soldering iron and risk a cold solder.

I needed to build some adapters for my Home Recording Studio that won't get used very much and I was in a pinch. I'm not big on the plastic they are made out of but the price is right. I think the other reviewer needs to work on their soldering technique a bit more before slamming these that much. The plastic on mine never hinted at melting but, I can understand where someone that doesn't know how to solder would melt the plastic. Don't expect them to take much abuse but for limited usage, they will work.

This jack failed from the outset. The solder tabs connect to delicate contacts that are "secured" by plastic. Before the solder joint was completed, the plastic melted, and I was left with a contact separated from the jack.

It might work if you were very quick on the soldering iron and used fine wire, but the meltdown was so fast in my first attempt that I didn't try to solder another jack. There is no space to put a heat sink between the solder tab and the rest of the contact.
