Comments about RadioShack 100-Watt PA Indoor/Outdoor Powerhorn® Speaker:

The Speaker itself is very nice the bracket that came with it so you can mount the speaker is all plastic. Not sure how well it will hold up to the weather. UV rays will not likely break it down.

Comments about RadioShack 100-Watt PA Indoor/Outdoor Powerhorn® Speaker:

After the first set of these only lasted about 20 seconds, I finally decided to try another set. This time I was very careful making sure I didn't accidently turn the Volume knob instead of the Balance knob when I tested that both channels were coming through. Also, I placed the Volume Low. First thing I noticed was that Low on the inside Speakers was too loud on the outside powerhorn speakers. Almost inaudible inside was LOUD outside. I think these sound good and lower volumes seem to carry well. Glad I gave them another try...a little outdoor music from time to time is what I was looking for.

Comments about RadioShack 100-Watt PA Indoor/Outdoor Powerhorn® Speaker:

I've run these on amplifiers anywhere between 10 and 50 watts and they work great. It seems to distort above 50 watts, but then sounds fine when brought back down indicating no damage was done.

The mounting bracket is basically two right-angle gears that are held together with a bolt, they allow it to be positioned in any direction, but they tend to strip easily if the horn is forced while the wing-nut is tight, or if the unit is subjected to movement such as when installed on a vehicle.

Where the wire comes out there are slots and a screw hole which looks like some kind of mounting bracket, maybe for a cover, but nothing that fits this was included in the box or mentioned in the manual in any of the three of these that I've bought over the years (all still work like brand new, including one from 20+ years ago).

Comments about RadioShack 100-Watt PA Indoor/Outdoor Powerhorn® Speaker:

Very amazing sound. It's rated 360 to 9,000 response is not enough for this speaker. It can play LOWER then that. More like 250 to 9,000 HZ. But all in all, very good sound. I'm using this as a secondary speaker and it sound just great :-) Very pleased. Well built too. I'm running it on my Peavey two channel powered mixing console and it has 2 channels of 300 watts and this thing SCREAMS!!!!! Super loud and excellent quality. Best use for these is for an ice cream truck speaker. They play music very well. And the play voice well too. Thing is, I don't know if the metal mount that it comes with is made out of rust proof metal or not. Great buy, even for the price. I thought it was going to be bad, but I thought wrong. You WILL NOT go wrong buying this speaker.

The speakers have good quality sound but will break off the mount if attached permanently for travel. We have replaced 4 of these that were each attached to the top of a sound trailer and pulled less than 200 miles each on Interstate. Other models we have used are 10 years old and still going strong. I would never buy these unless they change the weak mount.

I have been thinking for a week now about the 100Watt PowerHorn speakers #14-1445 that went South on me after about 20 seconds. And I would like to be as honest as possible with my review. I now have begin to wonder if I could have possibly turned the volume knob all the way to the right on my old Kenwood KR-7600(80WPC)instead of the balance knob since they are right together side by side. I didn't think I did this, but after a week of reflecting, I can't honestly say I know I didn't do this. I don't think I did, but it is possible I could have. And if so, then the 100WPC (At least that's what I take it to mean)were unable to handle the 80WPC for the 5-6 seconds it took me to open the door to hear the powerhorns outside. I'm not saying I did do this, but I cannot for sure say I did not. Just be careful and pay close attention when you try them.

Comments about RadioShack 100-Watt PA Indoor/Outdoor Powerhorn® Speaker:

I was looking to replace the Radio Shack 4x6" 50 Watt speakers #40-1440 I've had mounted outside for maybe 8 years now. They still work okay, but I decided to "Upgrade" to these 100Watt PowerHorn speakers #14-1445. Connected them to the same system and replaced the 50 Watt ones. And they worked fine for about 20 seconds, at which time I turned the balance to the left speaker to make sure they both were working...silence, to the right speaker, and sure enough both 100Watt Powerhorns were now dead. Reconnected the old 50Watt #14-1440 and they still work. Left and right balance check for them and both are still working.

Thinking about upgrading with to 100Watt #14-1445?
I'd say forget about it. They look good, sounded good, but must not be much quality control involved with the todays manufacturing. They just did not last and I'll be dang if I know why.

I purchased two of these speakers for outdoor use for a large area. The speakers was rated at 50 watts rms. 100 watts peak. I fed each with 50 watts rms. One burned up in 45 seconds. The other is distorted badly. Obvisiously the speaker rating of 50 watt rms was very inaccurate....Now I am stuck with one dead and one bad speaker and unable to return for refund due to short warranty.
