Comments about RadioShack 150-Watt 2-Way PA Monitor Speaker:

I love these speakers I have two of them hooked up to my pioneer reciever and they are perfect I'm running 150 watt rms runs to each one they get LOUD and the best part is very very little to no distortion. And yea be careful how you tune the bass response and highs on the reciever these things have serious tweeters that will hit every high note. And the frequency response is fantastic as well. I rarely write a review for anything but seeing as these are hands down the best speakers you can get for that price. I made time good job radioshack.

I DJ with these things. I can honestly say they bump pretty well! I am about to buy two more because they are the best passive speakers for the price! They sound no worse than the big name brand passives. Its all about the amp.

Comments about RadioShack 150-Watt 2-Way PA Monitor Speaker:

I want to share my experience with owning these for 2 years now, first with one per side, now with 8 total!.

my system is a home sound system hooked up to my desktop pc then going to a radioshack stereo equelizer, then on to 2 radioshack 250 watt pa amps, currently bridged for 350 watts each powering 4 of these 15 inch pa speakers per side.

first using one per side: these speakers MUST be placed on the floor up against a sturdy rear wall to get tons of bass out of them, even then you MUST turn down the 2-16KHZ frequencys by 3-4 decibels. placed in the air or on floor away from walls and they sound very bright and will split your eardrums with high frequencys. I speaking of rock music here in a medium to large room, outdoors with voice reproduction they sound excellent with no eq. again speaker placement is everything!!

this speaker in a living room will generate average sound levels of 105-108db at 6-8 feet from the speakers using a 125 watt per channel amp ( which the radioshack PA amp is in stereo). however to really get the most out of this speaker you need 300-400 watts per speaker, with 2 RS pa amps bridged they are getting 350 watts each and will generate 109-113 DB in a living room at 6-8 feet.

now if you REALLY want some serious chest beating bass use these in multiples!. heres how it works, if you place 2 speakers side by side you will get 97DB from 1 watt (1/2 watt per speaker) compared with 95DB with 1 watt 1 speaker. this is due to MUTUEL COUPLING of the speakers at bass frequencys, and with 4 speakers placed 2 on bottom, 2 on top....you get 99 decebels per wat to the 4 ( 1/4 watt per speaker) with 4 per side your entire system is 250% MORE efficient, and the power handling is quadupled!. in other words:

                            1 spk with 350 watts = 120DB
                            4 speakers with 1400 watts = 130db
                            4 speakers with 350 watts = 124db

you cant believe how much more powerful 4 per side are ( this can be done with any speakers BTW)

in short this is one heck of a speaker for the price!
