Comments about RadioShack Anti-Static Wrist Strap with Cord: This is a great package of 1N4001,2,4,& 7 Silicon Rectifiers. Not a bad one in the batch and they are just what I need for my power switching purposes.
Pros
Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Anti-Static Wrist Strap with Cord: For years I've plugged my ear buds into the gym's treadmill only to get regularly shocked with static electricity. This little device attached to the treadmill discharges the static allowing me to run hands-free. No more shocking in my ears!

Comments about RadioShack Anti-Static Wrist Strap with Cord: "Actual professional" has no idea what he is talking about, at all, and he is giving dangerous, incorrect advice. I am an electrical engineer working for a firm that builds satellites and have completed a NASA-approved course for the handling of static-sensitive components (and am tested on a regular basis). The purpose of a wrist strap is to dissipate a wearer's static charge through the wire to ground. That means that it must conduct. While zero ohms would dissipate a static charge, it would also put the wearer at risk of electrocution should he touch a high-voltage, high-current source (such as an 120VAC power). A potentially deadly current could flow through his body and heart, through the wrist strap, to ground. Wrist straps are required to have a minimum resistance of 750 kilo-ohms to limit the current and help protect the user should he come in contact dangerous electrical voltages and currents. The maximum resistance is 10 mega-ohms to assure efficient dissipation of static.Confirmation of what I wrote:[@]

Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Anti-Static Wrist Strap with Cord: The product absolutely does not work - or at least mine would not. To test the product, we checked the continuity on the contact points on the strap and there was no contunity! We examined the braclet to find there was a break due to poor assembley and/or parts. There was a physical break in the line. Pretty scary considering professionals like myself use this to protect expensive PCB and electronic components from shorting out. Buyer beware.
