Pros Cons Best Uses Comments about RadioShack Heat Sink Grease (6g): I was considering replacing a PC that would shut down after a short period of time. Using this compound in conjunction with replacing a heat sink mount, put me back in business in short order. Comments about RadioShack Heat Sink Grease (6g): My PC wouldn't boot after I cleaned it up inside (including, heat sink and fans). I suspected RAM, CPU, video card and Power Supply. With some troubleshooting I was able to isolate the problem to the CPU.I browsed through the Mobo user guide and found a note about applying silicone heat transfer compound to the CPU surface prior to installing the heat sink on the CPU. Just then I realized that the material I had cleaned up from the CPU and heat sink was this protective silicone used to disperse heat, so my CPU (P4 3.4) was quickly overheating when the PC was booting up.I quickly ran to Radio Shack, got this compund, came back home applied it to the surface of the CPU, put the heat sink on and within a minute my PC was back alive and running much cooler. It would probably have cost me at least $100 to take my PC to a repair shop. I was fortunate that all it cost me was [$] and change.
