I have an old tube of 276-1372, bought around year 2000. The old product came in a metal tube. It contained a pure, opaque, white thermal grease.

RS is now selling a clearly different product. I just bought a tube of 276-1372. It comes in a plastic tube. The paste is thin and translucent. More clear than white. I think they are now selling a cheaper, watered-down paste with less filling.

Its like the difference between whole milk and skim milk. We'll see if the new stuff performs.

Been using this thermal compound in PC's for years.
I have this compound between an overclocked Core 2 Quad (Q6600) and its heat sink. Core temps are the same as systems that use triple the price silver based compounds. The key is a very thin application layer.

I have used the RadioShack heat sink grease for many years now in all sorts of projects. From power supplies, to audio amplifiers to computers it has never let me down. You simply cannot go wrong with this grease.

You can spend a lot more money on fancier heat sink compounds (or greases) that claim to offer better performance or feature fancy formulations, but I have yet to find any that work better than this product.

The only bad thing is that some of the RadioShack stores in my area did not seem to be carrying it any longer. Thankfully, the supply has returned to these stores and they are once again carrying it.

I have been in electronics for over 35 years and I have not found a product that can beat Radio Shack Heat Sink Grease. Awesome for High end CPU's too.

I have a 3.2 ghz intel celeron D processor.And when applied it dropped my processor temp. by 25 degrees.I love it.and plan to continue to by more of it.

this is the same thermal barrier used by the maker of your electronic devices. if replacing an electronic component in your computer and you need to add a thermal barrier use this product and you should have no worries.

No need to pay for some expensive fancy grease, this one does the job. Don't forget to blow/vac away the dust and dirt to keep things running cool.

I was considering replacing a PC that would shut down after a short period of time. Using this compound in conjunction with replacing a heat sink mount, put me back in business in short order. I was overjoyed to discover a simple solution to what I thought was a catastrophic situation.

My PC wouldn't boot after I cleaned it up inside (including, heat sink and fans). I suspected RAM, CPU, video card and Power Supply. With some troubleshooting I was able to isolate the problem to the CPU.I browsed through the Mobo user guide and found a note about applying silicone heat transfer compound to the CPU surface prior to installing the heat sink on the CPU. Just then I realized that the material I had cleaned up from the CPU and heat sink was this protective silicone used to disperse heat, so my CPU (P4 3.4) was quickly overheating when the PC was booting up.I quickly ran to Radio Shack, got this compund, came back home applied it to the surface of the CPU, put the heat sink on and within a minute my PC was back alive and running much cooler. It would probably have cost me at least $100 to take my PC to a repair shop. I was fortunate that all it cost me was [$] and change.
