Comments about RadioShack Blue 2600 MCD intensity, T-1-3/4 (5mm) size LED:

To all users that there led's are failing prematurely; a series current limiting resistor is needed with a led. Take the voltage you wish to operate the led at, divide it by the forward current. Ex 12v divided by 25ma equals the resistor value you need "12/.025=480 ohms". You have to convert the ma to decimal by moving the decimal 3 places to the left. A led should last 20 years or more if used correctly.

Comments about RadioShack Blue 2600 MCD intensity, T-1-3/4 (5mm) size LED:

It amazes me to see the number of people posting here have torched their LED's. Remember kids... a series current limiting resistor is necessary to prevent burn out. if you're not sure what value resistor to use, check the internet for "LED Resistor Calculator". LED's should pretty much last forever.

Comments about RadioShack Blue 2600 MCD intensity, T-1-3/4 (5mm) size LED:

I bought this LED to compliment a 12v to 9v dc-dc conversion. The end application was a car lighter adapter for a device requiring 9v and approx. 1A. The LED went through initial testing well, but after 20 minutes of use under lab conditions (steady voltage and negligible current) the LED failed.

When I wanted to solder it in, (yeah I'm a fast but good solderer) it didn't light up. I first wanted to trouble shoot it by de soldering it and testing with a cr2032 coin cell. It did not light. I sadly wasted [$] out of my bank for a short lasting led. :'(

Comments about RadioShack Blue 2600 MCD intensity, T-1-3/4 (5mm) size LED:

I had two of these installed on a pair of gloves for light shows. Had them both running in a custom casing under nominal voltage and they worked great for about 20 minutes of total use. After which one began to flicker and eventually went out, followed by the other in similar fashion. I am seriously disappointed considering how expensive they were. I should have read the reviews on here first.

2600 MCD for [$]? are you kidding? i just bought 500 blue leds from another site, 8000 MCD each. that cost me $20. with this, for the same brightness, it would cost approx. $6,735. just wow.oh sure, it's a quality LED. but the price is like that of a 1-watt LED elsewhere. and it's not very bright compared to other 5mm.
