Comments about RadioShack Printed Circuit Board:

I find these things extremely useful when it comes to transferring circuits from a breadboard. personaly i have been using them to build circuits for distortion pedals. they are great for prototypes and for final products alike. they are pretty easy to cut with a small dremel tool, but i still wish they made a smaller version of these boards. over all a good product for an alright price.

Comments about RadioShack Printed Circuit Board:

Making a breadboard with the same form and circuitry as some solderless bbs is a great idea. But this one is not recommended for multiple use since the pads won't stand repeated & overlong soldering. The latter is a likely problem unless lots of flux in the hands of a practiced technician is used. NOTE: The product description and specs on these pages are for a different product. It doesn't include provision for binding posts, for example.

Comments about RadioShack Printed Circuit Board:

I picked up a couple of these to transfer a circuit from a solderless breadboard. The design is just a Teensy 3.0 ARM processor board and a 74HCT245 to translate the 3.3v from the Teensy to 5v to drive an array of WS2812B LED strips. The maximum current for the strips is 3.6 amps at 5 volts for full power white. So for 8 strips, the max amps would be 28.8. I am powering the circuit with a 30a 5v supply. I initially had only one positive/negative lead connected to the power supply at the ends of the breadboard. When I ran a test for full power, the power bar traces lifted off and melted. I was able to make it work by putting in additional power drops.

I think this would be a fine board for low amp applications, but it might not cut it if you are going to push serious amps through it.

The board is great, but it does not seem to easily fit inside the standard 6x3x2 project box sold at Radio Shack. Does anyone have a solution for this? It's too long and too skinny!

Similar to breadboard which is good, but:

Doesn't quite match: only one power/ground in power/ground rows (standard breadboard has two)

Copper is poorly bonded to board. Difficult to solder without separating (much more so than proto boards from other sources), and I just had a month-old circuit fail when a pad lifted

This thing is a blessing in disguise. Anyone who has set up a breadboard circuit and then transferred it to another layout in a project box or cabinet can certainly appreciate it. A pair of 4th order notch filters has a couple of dozen components and it's a cinch to move these devices to a similarly laid out board like this. The board can be easily cut into smaller boards if necessary with the addition of drilling a couple of extra mounting holes. I have not seen this board anywhere else. The price is far better than the work involved in etching another board.

I used to use these all the time for prototyping, so when I needed one in a hurry, and my local store, which is garbage, didn't have one (per usual) I bought one online. I should have just taken the time to etch my own PC board...I would have been better off. Suprised RS is still in business.

Comments about RadioShack Printed Circuit Board:

Hole pattern doesn't match their solderless breadboards. There is just one column of pins on the two long edges, making it hard to copy a breadboarded design that has multiple power supplies or one that has power and ground on both sides. This is a glaring omission.

It is the best prototyping board if you are used to breadboarding.

Does the job, and easy to translate circuits to it from a test board.
