Comments about RadioShack Solderless Motorola-Type Plug:

Like the other reviewers have said, the set screw was not long enough to clamp onto the center wire of the coax. I was able to get things to work by stripping the wire twice as long and doubling it over.

Great product. saves putting in a whole new antenna. As the other reviews say the center wire is too small to be held by the set screw. Fill the gap with a small solid piece of wire. Other than that great product.

Comments about RadioShack Solderless Motorola-Type Plug:

The center wire was so thin that the set screw wouldn't grab it. I had to strip the wire back an extra half inch to reveal about 3/4" of the center wire, and then I folded it back on itself so the set screw could get a purchase on it. Bingo!

Comments about RadioShack Solderless Motorola-Type Plug:

I'd broken the original connector on the end of my FM antenna cable while installing a new stereo, and was glad to find this as a cheap alternative to stringing new cable. The instructions were very clear, and repair was very quick, leading to a fully-functional antenna. The one "con" is that, as others have noted, the center wire of an FM antenna cable is really too thin for the screw in this connector -- being forewarned about this, I had a small piece of sturdy copper wire that I clipped from an old transistor which I shoved into the cable next to the original wire -- that worked very well. One other note which has nothing to do with the connector per se -- I found that a standard coax external insulation cutter cuts too deeply into antenna cable, right through the copper wire shield, so you'll want to do that cut by hand. A standard cutter seems to be fine for isolating the inner wire, though.

Comments about RadioShack Solderless Motorola-Type Plug:

Thanks for the previous post about inserting a very short length of bare wire along with the lead wire to enable the screw to actually hold everything in place. I needed to do that in an OEM application as well. Once done, this part works great.

Comments about RadioShack Solderless Motorola-Type Plug:

Using this replacement plug was a challange to install on after market antenna cables because the center wire is smaller. The screw connection would not hold. I used an extra piece of copper wire in the hole to fill the large space so that the screw would hold the wire firmly enough.
