Comments about RadioShack 120VAC 4"" Fan:

Died after about 1000 hrs of use. Did a search and found the MTBF is only 15,000hrs (http://support.radioshack.com/support_supplies/doc14/14105.htm) ... in other words it's design to fail on average before 2 years is up. It has a steal sleeve bearing with felt wick - very low tech. Elsewhere you can get a BB bearing 120mm fan for just a bit more that will have up to 100,000 mtbf. There are also sleeve bearings (quieter than BB) that compromize life (50,000 mtbf), but tons better than 15,000 mtbf. Come on Radio Shack, you can do better.

We use the fan to cool a multimedia cabinet.
The Radio Shack charged us a 1% license fee and we can't get an explanation why! Slightly more expensive than elsewhere but it was in stock.

Comments about RadioShack 120VAC 4"" Fan:

To this day, I am still amazed why people use water and 12v DC fans for computers and overclocking. 120v fans do the job cheaper and easier.

Yeah, I know the wiring takes a bit more than a 4th grade education. I just don't get why people use petty little 12v fans to cool their expensive computers. I am currently using 4 of these and I'm pulling 25c temps idle. 35c under load. I've paid 1/4 of what water can do. It's quieter too.

I have used these fans for years as I am an electronics builder. I build tube type amps for musical instruments and radio gear for comunications. I use them to keep these units cool in the power supplies. So they have a little noise. They move 65 CFM they are going to make noise. You want quite use one out of a PC and get you 12 volts DC. Now I have installed them into the grills of my fireplace to move room air into the heat chambers to get more heat. They are working great!!! I will buy these fans as long as they keep selling them for my projects.

Comments about RadioShack 120VAC 4"" Fan:

I used this for a custom ventilation assembly in my house. Think window fan meets indoor A/C vent window assembly.

It was easy to attach to the appropriate AC cord, though I wish the gauge on the attached wire was thicker by just a bit, but otherwise it works as intended - and honestly it's NOT loud.

Using this fan for last 10 years. I put it in my home theater cabinet, on top of Receiver and never had any issue. I moved recently and just finished installing it at the back of Home Theater cabinet to cool and it is still working fine. It has started making some noise at certain angle, but the way I have installed, it is still very quite. Great reliable product.

I wired this bad boy up to my temperature controller for my kegerator to circulate the cold air. It runs only when the compressor is on to the unit. It is a little noisy, but nothing that is bothersome, suffice to say it has served it's purpose well. FWIW, it works very well in the 38°F temperature I keep my kegerator set at.

Comments about RadioShack 120VAC 4"" Fan:

273-241c fan I have a large home theater amp in an enclosed cabinet with the back of the cabinet open for wires ect. I put a rubber cabinet bumper as feet and set directly on top of my amp to pull air through. Before using this little fan the amp got so hot one could hardly put ones hand on it, now the amp seems to stay near room temperature. I did have to put on a regular ac plug on it for installation and plugged it into my amp so the fan goes on every time I turn on the amp. A little loud but seems to move a lot of air. After about ten years it is showing some aging symptoms. Love this thing. All metal including blades, not cheep plastic. When it dies I'll back for another of the same.
